Well, the mother being obsessed with the son would be opposite of oedipus complex.

I just finished the drama right now, it was good the whole way through but I thought the ending was half-assed and just done the way it was to make more of an impact. They should have just gone all out and made Naoki's father die of a heart attack and Minako's head explode because she had been messing with memories too much, and then the old guy at the bookstore could have gone insane and murdered the whole town. Meh, guess I was just expecting something different.

I did not understand that ending... why was minako (as a child) in the same train as Naoki? And what happend to Naoki? Why didn't he get off the train? Did he really die?

Kind of odd if he did, because they never really made any of his injuries very significant.

Hi, has anyone watched this drama? Hee... I know I know... I'm late, I just finished watching it on cable It's too abstract for me, what happened to Kimura at the end, why couldn't he fulfill his promise? And weren't they brother & sisters of the same father?

You know where Hamazaki was in the end? She was one of the many curcumstanses that got him there. Thinking of it that way, it makes sense that she was always out of reach but still has a huge influence on his actions.

As to the father, it just shows that some things run in the family.

Just finished this series. This was a great dark mystery. I really enjoyed this series.

Just finished watching Sleeping Forest. Can someone explain something to me?

Did he die? Is that why he didn't get off the train? But why did he die in that case? They didn't really hint it, except for when he fell just at the end.. when he was walking.

I was a bit confused by the end..

It was a good drama, except for a few things. They didn't really explain everything (like the very last part that confused me alot), or the mother..

But I enjoyed it. All in all, it was a good drama.

Yeah, he died of internal bleeding from when the bad guy beat him up earlier (forgot his name). Notice the scene where he falls near the end (before going on the train). Apparently in the book it describes his symptoms of dizziness, etc, which he ignores.

Yes that's what I thought.. But honestly, they don't really make it very clear.. They had one weak hint towards the end.. Well, they did tell him to go for a checkup and he didn't.

But still... The ending could have been a little less subtle

Sleeping Forest naa... it was such a classic mystery suspense, for me... I think only Byakuyakou is on par with this. The currently airing Maou reminds me alot of Sleeping Forest, but too soon to judge for now.

I miss Nozawa Hisashi's mysteries... other than SF, I've only seen Ice World. I know he also wrote another mystery drama, titled Nemurenu Yoru wo Daite starring Nakamura Toru, but I can never find that drama online Feel sad knowing there will be no new masterpiece from Nozawa-sensei anymore...

Sleeping Forest was beautifully directed. Ito Naoki was such a mysterious character esp coz of his line in the first episode, "I'm a part of you".

I agree! I thought he was just sleeping and missed the stop or something at first... I did wonder if he died but it seemed so out of the blue. Too bad I can't remember where I read the other details but others were having the same problem.

The ending was great,, but it made me wonder why didn't he go to the hospital he had like a month or so then he would continue living and have conversations with his sister (which I would imagine would be soo weird and uncomfortable which made me want to see it more)

but it's a very good drama overall,,
I liked it more than Ice world because it gave you clues to who is the real
murderer (unlike Ice World)
and the characters get by Santa which I will never see again
a must watch if you like detective dramas for sure
