Looks like its only happening for Avira. There are other sites that complained that their installation of Avira is popping up with virus alerts due to a certain detection in the HTML, and reported the exact same "virus" name.

Their reply to those who complained about the false alert

You may also want to read about someone's analysis of this problem with Avira. It states that their scanning method will lead to false positives for Google Web Toolkit applications. Not sure if adsense false under this, but its a possibility.

http://grack.com/blog/2010/03/17/the-sorry-state-of-avira-anti-virus-heuristics/

I'm checking with Google if the hidden iframes are coming from them and if they pose any harm.

Thanks Genma. I appreciate all of your help and bmwracer's too. glomp

Is there another free AntiVirus program that someone here wants to suggest instead of Avira?

I use Avast: http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

From what Triky's said, he uses Avira AVG, but hasn't encountered the problem that you and brad2 have encountered...

Yeah, truthfully, I don't have problems with it, in reference to this website or otherwise.

I see a future marketing tie with the upcoming release of Pirates of the Carribean 4.

Correction:

Avira and AVG are two different antivirus programs. Sweat

EDIT: Avira is installed... And I've logged into J-D... No virus warning messages.

(Though I'm running Firefox, not IE)

I am beginning to think part of the problem is IE8. It seems lots of people who installed it are having different kinds of problems, not just the ones we have had.
It also seems that uninstalling IE8 is a great problem in itself and means practically dismantling your whole PC. Also Google is mesing about with it's new setup. Therefore I have both playing tricks and don't know who is doing what.

Anyway I must say I appreciate all the input from bmwracer. He has been truly delving into this mess for us.
Genma knows more than I do about anything to do with programmes and I thank her for her help.

I have decided for the moment not to change programmes and not to get too tensed up over what is happening. Don't have the time to waste with bitching and moaning. It will probably sort itself out eventually. I can still get where I want to go on the 'Great Internet Highway' as they used to call it.....

The Google staff said that this had been fixed, they posted it on 15th May 2010. Do let me know if you're still encountering it so that I can launch some mortars on them if required. Dancing

I second that recommendation, I've been using Avast for years without any issues.

Genma..

My apologies for confusing names here. I automatically thought feminine only because of a connection in my mind with an English actress. Sigh. My mind has a mind of it's own I'm afraid.

thank you anyway for all your help.

so far this trip no interlopers .. Dancing

Just install Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org and stop using IE. Victory! Peace!

Agreed. I switched a while back and never looked back. In fact I find IE 8 is far slower in any case, aside from issues of reliability.

Same here... The abundance of add-ins make it an easy choice as an alternative to IE. Victory! Peace!

@Genma: I still got the virus warning again just now. Thanks for all of your help.

@bmwracer: Thanks for the Avast info. I appreciate all of your help!

I used Mozilla Firefox with my old computer, but on this new one when I logged onto MSN hotmail it gave me this Security Warning: "Although this page is encrypted the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party."

That is why I have been using IE.

No love for McAfee? lol. Oo Avast...i have never tried that before. I have used Norton, Kapersky, AVG and McAfee. I quite liked AVG due to it being light-weight, but it tend to do something in the background that took away the focus from the media player when I was watching dorama! Then I had to fumble with remote control or got out of the bed to reach the mouse/keyboard..... laziness to the max....

2. Microsoft Defender
3. AVG
