It will always be an issue to some extent but I feel like this year's tournament the blown calls have been particularly egregious...but it's not just in international play, club play in Europe is also at issue.

I suppose there's no instant replay for contested calls, huh?

Indeed. Indeed. All I can add is that given the huge popularity of this tournament...more watched than the Olympics...FIFA needs to do better for its marquee event which only happens every four years.

Absolutely. Overcoming that inertia is difficult to say the least.

I'm upset at the officiating. You know how the 2010 World Cup slogan is "One game changes everything" After lousy officiating it's more like "One bad call changes everything"

RE: Mexico and Argentina - even if Argentina was offensively superior, the first offsides call was definitely a blow to the Mexican team's morale. I think Argentina might have won, but Mexico would have given them a run for their money.

Ghana. NO!!!!!!!! Shake Head

I was actually rooting for Ghana so there'd be at least one nation from the host continent (Afriikaaaa... represent! *does the double fist-thump on upper left chest thing*), but it sucks that it had to be USA -- after such an inspiring (and dramatic) World Cup campaign. Doh!

Yes Ma'am. Unfortunately, I have to forego my <3 of Fabregas, Pique and Casillas for Ronaldo, Simao and Coentrao <3<3 Smile I hope this would be a better match unlike the blah Portugal - Brazil game.

Forca Portugal! Smile LOL on the Battle of the Iberian Peninsula reference.

Japan Fingers crossed at 4pm Sweat will leave work early but will miss the first half. Shameful Cry

For tonight, I am divided, I lived two years in Spain and I count many Portoguese amongst my closest friends.

I just hope we won't see anymore referee disasters.
