A bit much, to put it mildly. I think the letter was idiotic but not racially tinged.

Mark Cuban puts in his two cents:

Cuban: NBA should examine how Heat got Big 3

LAS VEGAS (AP)\Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban says the NBA should examine how free agents LeBron James(notes), Chris Bosh(notes) and Dwyane Wade(notes) all ended up with the Miami Heat.

Cuban tells a group of reporters at the NBAfs summer league in Las Vegas that he intends to ask the leaguefs Board of Governors to inquire about the situation.

According to a story posted on the Cleveland Plain Dealerfs website Sunday, Cuban says the league needs to develop more definitive rules governing the issue of player tampering.

NBA owners are scheduled to meet Monday in Las Vegas.

Lakers haven't made much noise with their acquisitions... Hope they're not standing pat, 'cause no one else is.

Don't know much about Blake, but is he a worthy replacement for D-Fish? Sweat

blake isn't a replacement for fish, more like a replacement for farmar. the good thing about blake is that he's a shooter. the triangle offense doesn't need a traditional point guard in the sense that they need to be able to get in the lane and make things happen, they just need someone who makes smart plays and can hit open jumpers. those are both things that steve blake excels at. i imagine seeing (assuming they re-sign fish) fish starting and playing about 20-25 minutes a game during the regular season, and 25-30 minutes in the playoffs, with blake taking the other remaining minutes.

i'm happy with the pickup of blake but feel like we need to add another perimeter player like raja bell. sounds like bell either wants to sign with the lakers or the heat, so i'm crossing my fingers on that one.

also, looks like the lakers picked up a couple of gems in the draft. on nba.com's rookie rater, devin ebanks was ranked #1 after putting up 21pt and 24pt games. derick caracter was ranked #2 after putting up back-to-back double doubles, with john wall following at #3. if we can get production out of those two rookies, even if they just play spot minutes and are mostly practice players, we're in good shape.

So ka.

Rather surprised that they'd fork over $4M/year for Blake, yet they essentially cut D-Fish's pay, even though he's still the designated starter... Head Scratch

Suns swap Barbosa for Turkoglu

PHOENIX (Reuters) – The Phoenix Suns restored some firepower after losing forward Amar'e Stoudemire to free agency by agreeing trades to acquire Hedo Turkoglu and Josh Childress from the Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks, nba.com reported Monday.

Sweet-shooting Turkish forward Turkoglu, 31, was added in a swap that will send 27-year-old guard Leandro Barbosa of Brazil to Toronto.

Swing man Childress, the sixth player taken in the 2004 NBA Draft, would join the Suns in return for a second-round draft pick. Childress left the Hawks to play with Olympiacos in Greece with Atlanta retaining his NBA rights.

That's a typo on my part Sweat

I'm glad Fisher is staying with the Lakers. I can understand he would like a nice paying contract since it might be his last one, but it looks like Kobe and company did a good job talking with Fisher. He might not have the numbers, but he's been clutch in key moments and seems like he's the calming force to balance Kobe's competitiveness. Whenever he does retire, I hope he does it as a Laker and goes out as a champion.

+1.

Fish has been solid, dependable, reliable, and honorable... More athletes should be like him. Victory! Peace!

yeah, i read that, i guess it'll help out the Suns somewhat, but they had no choice to let Stoudamire go, his defense was lacking, despite being such an offensive force.

D-fish back to the Lakers is a good sign, i wonder how he'll pair up with Steve Black in the backcourt.

the suns essentially traded amare and barbosa for hakim warrick, josh childress, and hedo turkoglu. the new guys fit the system well enough but i don't know i'd make that trade like that.

i think the suns are going to be fun to watch cuz they'll run but who are they gonna rely on in the post, robin lopez?? sideshow bob is all D...
