The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón took another monumental step toward enhancing its position as the Global Leader of Green Racing with todayfs announcement that Porschefs innovative 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car will race for the first time in North America at the Series signature event – Petit Le Mans on October 2 at Road Atlanta.

After debuting in April at Germanyfs world-renowned Nürburgring race circuit in a six-hour event, the Porsche Hybrid challenged the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in May. It earned worldwide acclaim with its performance that had it leading many hours of the race – at times by a significant margin – until the closing two hours when a combustion engine issue forced the car to retire.

Nice. Victory! Peace!

The Germans seem to be at the forefront with using alternative energy and fuels in racing: BMW and Audi have been racing (and winning) with turbodiesel cars for a number of years and now Porsche with the Hybrid... Victory! Peace! Applaud

Yes, it is certainly impressive to be racing at such a high level with a newly invented hybrid powered car.

Rain puts paid to Suzuka qualifying

Sat, 09 Oct 08:00:00 2010

Qualifying for Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix was postponed to the morning of the race on Saturday after pouring rain made track conditions too treacherous for drivers.

The start of the hour-long session at Suzuka was pushed back three times at half-hour intervals, with the safety car making several test runs in a cloud of spray, until fading light made a postponement inevitable.

Conditions are expected to improve overnight, with Sunday forecast to be dry.

A spokeswoman for the FIA said qualifying would start at 10am local time (0200 UK time) on Sunday.
