Hehe. So it's not surprising that California is the state with the highest population of Japanese but I'm thinking that Hawaii has a higher population per capita because it's a much smaller state than ours.

Not wanting to wait until the last minute, this years SoCal Cherry Blossom Festival has already been cancelled: http://www.cherryblossomfestivalsocal.org/pages/festival_closes.html

They say they'll have it again in 2013. I'm betting it's gone for good. Puppy Dog Eyes

That sucks. They need to attract some Japan-related/Japanese-themed businesses in that area in order to pump money into events such as this.

Given the substantial growth in the popularity of Japanese food and the global export of popular culture from Japan to areas like the United States you would think it would have happened already.

Oh yeah, there's this thing in California called the economy, which sucks right now.

This event isn't taking place in Little Tokyo, but it's L.A. related:

SFVJACC is having a Day of Remembrance for the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami Victims, especially for the children who became orphans due to the disaster. The event will take place on March 10th (Sat.) from 1 pm. Tamlyn Tomita will be the MC for the program which will include music, magic, sushi, demonstrations, and dance, both traditional and hip-hop. Please feel free to bring your friends. Hope to see you there : ) Thanks

Here's your chance to meet Tamlyn Tomita!! HOT!

The San Fernando Valley Japanese American Community Center is located at 12953 Branford Street, Pacoima.
