Miss Marty's drama votes (3)
Kou kou kyoushi [高校教師]
The original series. Sanada Hiroyuki is amazing as always. The lead girl will drive you crazy with how she stalks him! Kyoumoto Masaki plays a horrible villain, but looks so good!!! Pre-cell phone era Japan. Back when girls kept quiet about many bad things too. I think this was really a landmark series. It has a shocking, unspoken evil going on... it's HEAVY, what can I say, but highly recommended.
Toubousha [逃亡者]
Based on the American 60's series, but totally adapted for modern Japan. Abe-chan is a HOT cop! Mizuno Miki looks great. Really well-done. Keeps you guessing. Lots of twists.
Trick Season 2 [トリック2]
Greatest Japanese drama ever! It's the X-Files with a comic twist. Onitsuka Chihiro's theme songs are wonderful too. I love Yabe's comical sidekick! You MUST watch this series.

Abe Hiroshi [阿部寛]
The single HOTTEST J-drama actor of them all. This site needs to post a better photo of him, with better hair! Abe-chan must be the hardest working actor in all of Japan. He does what, 4 films, 3 dramas, 5 commercials a year!?
Eguchi Yosuke [江口洋介]
He's my age, so that rocks! He used to have long hair and looked like an American Indian. Isn't that weird! He looks much hotter lately. He used to have a singing career. He seems like a nice guy. Nice to look at, nice to listen to.
Fujiki Naohito [藤木直人]
Sorry to sound superficial, but he's really cute! And newly married. Alas! He's got it all. Really smart guy from a top university, plus a model, actor, singer, guitar player.... he just does it all ! (Is he good at sports?) Yet he seems humble.
Kyomoto Masaki [京本政樹]
He's a gorgeous rock star and a fine actor too. Plays a great villain, but in reality I think he just wants to be Ultraman. He doesn't even smoke. Cool! This listing is missing quite a lot of his work. LOVE his hair. It never changes. "One pattern" as he refers to himself in his most recent book "Kunou." Definitely underrated actor. Why aren't there more votes here? Maybe because his "Koukou Kyoushi" villain was so convincing! Watch the special interview clip with him in the special features of that. How can you not adore him!
Matsuyuki Yasuko [松雪泰子]
She's gorgeous. I love her big nose! Check her out in "Another Heaven" (movie) where Eguchi Yousuke is beating her up!! Ouch!
Mizuno Miki [水野美紀]
Everyone's big sister, right? She is really genuine. She doesn't seem like just another girl. I get a feeling of honesty and sincerity from her. Why is she with Odagiri Joe? She could do better!
Nakama Yukie [仲間由紀恵]
She is so funny! She's cute, works so much, does great comedy. Of course she's the best in "Trick"! Unlike a LOT of J actresses, she's not the least bit annoying. She's just fun!
Sanada Hiroyuki [真田広之]
A REAL actor. He's rather short, chinless, and has tiny ears, but he's MEGA SEXY! Check out all his work, especially "Twilight Samurai" (Tasogare Seibei).
Sonim [ソニン]
She stole the show in Koukou Kyoushi 2003. And yes, she's Korean, but from Japan. Third generation according to a Japanese fanpage.

See my lengthy review. This is a classic.
Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 [高校教師 2003]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Kyoumoto Masaki's storyline is the best part. I think Fujiki Naohito's character is rather cruel to the girl.

Kou kou kyoushi [高校教師]
Addictive drama, despite the subject matter. [Rating: 9/10]
When I got this drama, I thought it was going to be a very straight forward "girl has crush on her teacher" style story. And I wanted to gaze upon the lovely Sanada Hiroyuki. Instead, it is a much deeper story and contains some rather "shocking" events. The theme song, the lead girl- Mayu's- downright STALKING of her teacher, and the cartoon CATS she keeps drawing irritated me at first. The English teacher-- my first exposure to rock star-actor Kyoumoto Masaki--is beautiful... but only on the outside it turns out. His character's storyline continues over into the 2003 version of this drama. If you've only seen that one, you've gotta see this one! I grew up in the USA, so I didn't have much prior knowledge of Japanese high schools. I learned a lot of culture from this. I confirmed with some Japanese friends that things really were much like that 10+ years ago in terms of how open (or closed) girls were about their emotions and bad things that happened to them. Essentially a sad story, and of course over the top (hey, it's a television drama, how realistic could it be and still entertain?), but "Koukou Kyoushi" has some memorable characters. If you're used to Sanada Hiroyuki playing an action hero, like I was, you'll be shocked to see what a wimp he can play too. This is a pre-cell phone era drama centered on the lives of two best friends at high school. Both have dark secrets in their lives, and both turn to teachers to help them. The first time I watched this series, I did it all in two marathon sessions, one night until I fell asleep, and then continued as soon as I woke up. It's very addictive. You'll really want to know what happens next.
