Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ]
A well-paced romantic story that moved one to chuckle at the beginning, dreamy in between and at the end teary-eyed. The pull from the stellar performance of Kimura and Tokiwa (an excellent match) is forceful. Both were powerfully subtle without the melodramatics in their respective roles.
Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!]
Brandish machismo in the strong male cast who brings a credible performance to the light plot. Young pop-idol Kimura held his own against his much older substantive male co-stars. There seems to be a genuine sense of camaraderie amongst them. Departing from being the usual maverick, his portrayal of a grudgingly loving and caring son/elder brother is noteworthy. Quite an enjoyable and entertaining ride with just a light touch of romance for spice.
Haru Ranman [春ランマン]
Like him simply he is real cute and also for his coolly articulated American-accented English.
Itazura na Kiss [イタズラなKiss]
From a manga, I thought I am way past too old to enjoy this kind of teen drama but I bloody (sorry, but have to use an intensive to underscore my point) well love it! Superbly animated by Kashiwabara and Sato. I came to the end of the show with a happy silly grin. It has got to be one of the greatest and memorable drama endings. The birth of a very shy lovely smile from Kashiwabara for Sato, poignant because he tried but failed to suppress it.
Konna koi no hanashi [こんな恋のはなし]
A good weepy with a grabbing theme song, gMr. Lonely.h The strongest impression from Sanada – moneyed, suave, worldly, cold and cynical to boot, influenced by new-found love and friendship, moved to leave behind a meaningful legacy as he is to die shortly.
Long vacation [ロングバケーション]
The young and attractive stars that form the main cast are the irresistible magnetic draw. A fluffy romance to be enjoyed as is. Kimurafs shyness is so endearing that one could not help but root for him in his romantic overtures either toward Matsu or Yamaguchi. Because he is just as well matched with Matsu as Yamaguchi, it offers a somewhat gbite-the-nailsh intrigue to the development of their relationships. For the older women especially, the fairy tale ending is one big longing happy sighc
Love generation [ラブジェネレーション]
An ordinary love story but engaging in its simple appeal. It is close-to-heart as one can identify with the office lady Matsu and salaryman Kimura. Their ups and downs are as commonplace as our very own. Though the ordinariness is very much liven up by the chemistry between the 2 good-looking protagonists.

Eguchi Yosuke [江口洋介]
In my book, he is second best to Takuya Kimura.
Fukuyama Masaharu [福山雅治]
In most of his roles, he has the persona of an endearing tantalizing flirt.
Ito Hideaki [伊藤英明]
He is quite a good actor and it's a real plus that he is good looking too. Wonder why he did not get into the TOP 50 ranking in this site.
Kimura Takuya [木村拓哉]
Exudes cool vibes bearing an attitude with-a-capital-A!! He is definitely his own man.
Oshio Manabu [押尾学]
He is cool and I really like his coolly articulated American-accented English.
Sanada Hiroyuki [真田広之]
He is the epitome of cool maturity and debonair in gThe Story of Love.h
Sorimachi Takashi [反町隆史]
His roles in gVirgin Roadh, gBeach Boysh and gG.T.O.h projected an impression of earnest goodwill. Impishly charming. Then in "Cheap Love" - roguishly cool!
Takenouchi Yutaka [竹野内豊]
Very much a pretty boy but proves his mettle in a variety of drama roles.
Toyokawa Etsushi [豊川悦司]
He is all stillness and silent grace, which adds a reflective depth to his drama roles.

Toyokawa Etsushi deserved special mention for his graceful execution of the sign language – it enhanced his unutterable words so beautifully. Hence, I was totally annoyed when Tokiwa suddenly went mental and found fault with his disability to vocalize his feelings for her. That completely killed the show for me.

A dorky Takuya Kimura!! Coming-of-age love story of five close-knitted school friends (2 girls and 3 boys). All were in love with the same boy except nerdy Kimura (for once he is not the adored one) with a heart of gold, anguished with unrequitted love for one of the girls. My heart goes out to him.

Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
A well-paced romantic story that moved one to chuckle at the beginning, dreamy in between and at the end teary-eyed. The pull from the stellar performance of Kimura and Tokiwa (an excellent match) is forceful. Keenly perceptive in their respective roles, both gave a powerfully subtle performance. He, the kakkoii hairstylist of an uptown, trendy salon and she, the plucky handicapped librarian, fell irresistibly in love. Through the course of the plot each was shown to struggle with their own hang-ups and insecurities. Both taking tentative steps closer to one another leading to a strongly growing steadfast relationship.

Captivating public prosecutorfs case stories episode by episode pepped up by a hint of romance between a laid-back, unconventional, inquisitive prosecutor and his earnestly ambitious, straitjacket go-by-the-rules legal assistant. The direct contrast of their characters played upon the opposite attract theme. In between fencing around the underlying attraction for each other were some rare tender moments which serves to lure the wishfully romantics. The much touted Kimura-Matsu on-screen chemistry provided the catalyst.

This is not a generally appetizing drama but would titillate onefs senses if persuaded to dig in. A fatefully tragic story. Somberly moody and tainted. My interest is piqued by Kimurafs twisted character – an amoral cad who uses his attractiveness to the hilt to sexually enslave and ensnare his female victims in psychological games. A distinct departure from Kimurafs usually good guy roles and his sexiest to date, judging by the many amorous scenes.

Bijo ka Yajuu [美女か野獣]
love is in the air??!! [Rating: 6/10]
I watch this drama because of a possible electric interest that a NM-MF combination I thought might generate. Alas, a letdown for me. While competent in their roles, there is no hot-wiring. The flaw lies in the script. The make-up of NMfs character - way too cool to frigid point whenever MF attempts to bridge a connection. Therefore, the hint of romantic undercurrent between NM and MF is not as well perceived as in gHeroh, heartwarmingly so between Kimura and Matsu. NMfs hardened aloofness sets the tone of the relationship with MF throughout until it seems to dawn on the scriptwriter that the show is ending without so much as hot air between the leads and to pacify audience, insert an eleventh hour ghappily-ever-afterh closure. Eh??!!! It did nothing but markedly the empty promise of a romance. Apart from the non-romantic development, it is still watch able for the 2 good-looking leads.
Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!]
Good show [Rating: 8/10]
Takuya Kimura is the cool dude as always but his character in this drama is better rounded in the interplay of his family ties. He is often the maverick in his dramas. So it is refreshing to see him as a grudgingly respectful son to his reticent father and a caring, playful bully to his younger brother. Beneath the macho veneer of all three, is an understated love for each other. His leading lady is not the usual chatty feminine but an ice-cool mechanic that straddles the motorbike. Though her role is rather limited. From the start, both are reluctant to admit their mutual attraction and keep stealing sidelong glances at each other. The plot (case by case flight incidents and encounters) is not very substantial but carried through by the good performance of the cast. Overall entertaining. Especially if one is a Takuya Kimurafs die-hard (like me) just so to catch his cool vibes!!
Itsumo futari de [いつもふたりで]
friend to lover... [Rating: 5/10]
The draw from the start is Kashiwabara. He is outstanding as the flippant and lax young chief of the publishing firm where Matsu works. A tantalizing provocateur to the Matsu-Sakaguchi to-be romance. I feel there is more animation between Kashiwabara & Matsu than Sakaguchi & Matsu. Unfortunately, Kashiwabara dropped out of serial after the second episode. His replacement is lackadaisical. From that point, the beat of the drama weakens considerably. Nothing very happening until Matsu realizes her feelings for Sakaguchi is not entirely platonic. For the sentimental soul, the beat picks up. Nice touch at the end when Matsu cannot help but giggles as Sakaguchi attempts to smooch her. It underscores the transition from just being childhood friends to lovers. Eye candy drama for the cast of Kashiwabara, Matsu and Sakaguchi. Also for the trendy apartment lighted with a festival of splashy colors
