Beach boys [ビーチボーイズ]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
Watched this back in the 90s dubbed in Chinese WITH Chinese subs. So i didn't really get what's going on except for what conversational Mandarin that I knew. But it was enjoyable though, the laid-back atmosphere, kept me watching till the end to relax at the beach. Need to watch this whole series again one fine day... one fine day.. Perhaps it'll get a higher rating then when i understand what the drama is REALLY all about.
Bengoshi no Kuzu [弁護士のくず]

Bus stop [バスストップ]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Musashi was an endearing character. I remember watching this donkey years ago and rooting for him. Enjoyed this drama very much.
Dekichatta Kekkon [できちゃった結婚]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
Densha Otoko [電車男]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Hilarious. Touching. Surprisingly it brought tears to my eyes. Usually this doesn't happen when i watch dramas on tv. I watched this on 8tv. Because when you watch on tv, there's advertisements in between which interrupts the mood. Thumbs up!!! Excellent OST as well... I'm now experiencing what Densha Otoko is experiencing, in the sense of having conversation with online friends that i have NEVER met but feel that i've known them for a LONG time and would understand where I'm coming from. :) Only thing is there's the dreaded TIME DIFFERENCE which never fail to make my head spin. But I'm thankful nevertherless.
Engine [エンジン]

LOVE the kids!!! And LOVE the OST composed by Yugo Kanno. You go man! Another Mr Talented taking the No. 2 spot after Ken Hirai. ;)

Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Takashi Sorimachi!!! Fun, crazy, hilarious. He can get away with trying to act cute. I, surprisingly didn't cringe at all. In fact, enjoyed his unique charm.
Hachimitsu to Kuroba [ハチミツとクローバー]
Hoshi no kinka 1 [星の金貨]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
Takumi, Aya and Shuichi. LOVE all three of them. I am definitely biased here. Watched this as a teenager back in the 90s. I can't really separate Heaven's Coins 1 from Heaven's Coins 2, unlike some or most of jdorama members here. In my mind, they are one and the same. Loved Aya's cute handwriting. Love how Takumi and Shuichi use sign language. Love how protective Takumi is of Aya. Frustrated, though with Shuichi's indecisiveness. What else? Loved Takumi laughing AND crying at the same time. Loved the parting scenes at the airport.

Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
Watched this on 8tv. I recorded it too because i read that its a very good drama. And i completely agree. Makes me cherish my life more and be thankful for all that God has given me. I started to have tears in my eyes midway through this drama. Great performance by the actress who played Aya and also Riko Narumi. Previously seen Narumi in Ruri no Shima. What a young and talented actress! Her character developed from being a spoilt girl to a very responsible sister.
Kaidan Hyaku Shosetsu [怪談百物語]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Kazoku -tsuma fuzai oto no sonzai [家族〜妻の不在・夫の存在〜]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
Watched this on youtube with chinese subs because i was so desperate. Unfortunately i cannot read chinese. Was worried that i can't get this in VCD form. My first family Jdrama. Even though i didn't understand some parts, this drama was excellent. Had me in tears a number of times. Great chemistry between Takenouchi and his 'son'.

Last Christmas [ラストクリスマス]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Watched this because it was shown on Channel U with English subs. Thank God!!! Like Saiyuki, watched for the sake of watching for my weekly dose of Jdrama. The plot is actually quite okay. Was curious to know what happens next. But i guess just like the other love themed stories, it didn't appeal that much to me. Something was missing. But the drama gave me a nice happy feel, though. Yugo Kanno composed the OST for this drama. Great job Mr Talented No. 2!!! I have given this drama an extra point just because of the OST. :)
Long vacation [ロングバケーション]
Rating: 5/10 (Bought & Watched)
I am of the opinion that this drama is way overrated. Didn't really enjoy it. Couldn't feel the two main leads. Even made me really dislike the main actor and i still do. Or perhaps i really am not into love stories per se. Watched this in the mid-90s on local TV so my memory of it is quite hazy. The saving grace was of course Shinji's scenes. What a wacky character. Bought the VCD set but with so many dramas to watch, there's never time to rewatch this to give it another chance perhaps to change my opinion about it. But thinking of the two main lead characters really puts me off.

Manatsu no Merry Christmas [真夏のメリークリスマス]
Rating: 5/10 (Bought & Watched)
Another love story. Sigh. That brother-sister thing made it worse. Really wondering why Yutaka took this role. Sure, he looks dashing in this drama but it wasn't enough to save this. Watched this on local TV in 2001. Was really watching for the sake of Yutaka ONLY. Bought VCD set, would like to give it a second chance like Long Vacation, however no time and no real pull factor. Like mentioned by others here, I loved the theme song though. Very nice.
Nemureru mori [眠れる森]
News no onna [ニュースの女]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Watched this on local tv pre-2000. Again, can't remember in great detail what this drama is about. But i remember enjoying this show when i watched it back then. Something about how the leading lady, a newscaster, was trying to balance her work and getting along with her husband's (?) son. Sorry really too long ago.
Ningen no Shoumei [人間の証明]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
Many thanks to Malaysia's 8tv for broadcasting this drama in 2006. Otherwise I wouldn't be here, hopelessly addicted to Jdrama once again. After about five years of not watching Jdramas, I admit that I had high expectations of this drama. As I am a fan of mystery/investigative dramas, this was a MUST WATCH for me. This drama is like a jigsaw puzzle. Small bits and pieces are revealed in each episode. Everyone seems disconnected. But all will be connected in the last episode. I would say that the pace of the drama is quite slow. Or is it because I haven't been watching Jdramas for a long time? Or watching on TV means one episode each week. I don't know. I have watched Koori no Sekai years before and I find myself comparing the two dramas all the time. I would advise others not to do that. These two dramas have different story-telling styles. Comparing would only kill the enjoyment of the drama. Just sit back and enjoy it. First time seeing Yui Natsukawa acting. Love her very much. What a great actress. And Yutaka Takenouchi. WOW. Amazing, as always, in portraying such a character like Munesue who was fighting inner demons. He doesn't need to say much, his eyes, facial expression and body language is enough. And also his English, very good given my high standards.
Nisennen no koi [二千年の恋]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
BORING!!! But i watched it because it was shown on Channel 8 during the Jdrama wave (?) and just wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. Over-hyped most definitely. Plot was way out of this world. I can suspend my disbelief but there's a limit. Nice theme song though.
Orange Days [オレンジデイズ]

Bought on 17.09.09 for $12.90
Over Time [オーバー・タイム]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
Watched on local tv before those broadcasting disagreement between Fuji TV and Singapore TV. *rolls eyes* A very realistic drama. Takashi Sorimachi in a more serious role. Would like to watch this again if i get the chance, in future. Just realised that Yoshino Kimura was in this. So THAT was her. Nice drama with a great cast. Love the theme song and OST very much!!!
Proposal Daisakusen [プロポーズ大作戦]

This was broadcasted on 8tv on Sat afternoons in 2007 or 2008. Can't really remember. I saw several episodes here and there. Found the premise of the story interesting. But was unable to catch the whole series because of commitments in real life that prevented me from watching it religiously. So would love to watch this if there's an oppotunity in the future.
Psycho Doctor [サイコドクター]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
This drama is very different from the usual Jdramas i've seen. As a student of psychology i enjoyed the subject matter very much. However the mood was a little too dark and sometimes the pace was quite slow. Perhaps that's why not many enjoyed this drama. Initially, I hated the theme song perhaps because of the opening clip that accompanied it. It was very depressing and it was the first time i heard Ken Hirai's voice (need time to get used to it). However, as the drama progresses, I find myself singing to the song and understood why the opening clip was as boring as it is. This drama gets the credit for introducing me to Ken Hirai. After watching this drama, I was looking everywhere for "Ring" and this led me to discover the talent that is Ken Hirai. Love Ken-san aka Mr Talented very much!!!
Reisei to Jounetsu no Aida [冷静と情熱のあいだ]
(Bought & Watched)
*taps fingers* Love story = Boring story... Period. *yawns* But i will state here the good things about this movie. Yutaka speaking English and Italian, if i'm not mistaken. The flashbacks which shows a younger Junsei. Very cute and boyish. What else? Watched this only once some time back. Will not be watching it again any time soon. Not suitable for ALL ages. As Yutaka's fan, made me really uncomfortable, this movie. And THAT'S BAD. No rating given because i seriously don't know what to give. Its neither very good nor very bad. Giving it a 5 is letting this movie off too lightly. So i'll just reserve my judgement on this. Enough said.
Rikon Bengoshi [離婚弁護士]

rinbukyoku [輪舞曲]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
Loved this drama very much for the suspense, twist and turns. Each episode was well-executed on its own. But when you put all 11 episodes together, loopholes start to appear. RONDO was shot like a movie. I felt like i was watching a, let's see, 9-hr movie? This drama deserves, at best, an 8 but the thing i like MOST about RONDO is the soundtrack and also the two theme songs. Excellent! Never before have i taken an interest in drama soundtracks. So an extra point for the music scores in this drama.
Risou no kekkon [理想の結婚]

Ruri no shima [瑠璃の島]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
Watched this on VCD post-RONDO. I think i was warned from reading drama forums that Yutaka has little screen time. Was disappointed when i found out about this. But being a devoted Yutaka fan that i am, i still watched this keeping an open mind. Very impressed by Riko Narumi. A young and talented girl. EXCELLENT portrayal of Ruri... Great cast, story, location (really LOVE that island - peaceful), OST, theme song. The plot was really good that i would say that i actually watched this non-stop one episode after another that i can't differentiate between episodes. Which i think is not good. I think Jdramas are meant to be watched one episode per week. I've learnt my lesson. I unexpectedly shed tears a couple of times watching this series. Didn't see that coming AT ALL. Who needs Kdramas? Jdramas tug at your heart subtly and naturally without all those melodrama. Thank you very much. :)
Ruten no Ouhi - Saigo no Koutei [流転の王妃・最後の皇弟]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
I really love this historical drama. Watched it several times already. It has a great cast, full of actors and actresses that i really like. However it gets a 7 as the Japanese actors couldn't convince me that they are Chinese. And that made watching this hard. Yoshino Kimura did the best job with her Mandarin. The rest tried but really made my head spin. It was a treat hearing Yutaka speak Mandarin, though. He looks like a Chinese in this drama and loved his character's gentleness. Sweet! And i should read up on the history of Manchuria, China and Japan to further understand this great production. Really nice soundtrack accompanying this drama as well.
Saigo no Bengonin

Saiyuuki [西遊記 ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Watched this for the sake of watching because it was shown on 8tv after Proof of the Man finished airing. It was just so that i have my weekly dose of Japanese drama. The plot was just okay, in my opinion. This drama got an extra point for introducing me to MONKEY MAJIK's music, which i am really addicted to now. Another reason for watching this was so that i can sing along at the end of each episode to 'Around the World' :)
Seikimatsu no uta [世紀末の詩]

Looking for English synopsis for this one. Anyone? Till then this VCD set is sleeping with Thirsty Hippo.
Shiroi Kyoto [白い巨塔]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
Karasawa Toshiaki-san!!! Where have you been all these while? First time seeing him act. Thoroughly impressed. Zaizen is the guy you love to hate. But while watching this, you can't help but root for him, however flawed his character was. He is only human. The character seems to be written perfectly for him. Karasawa-san IS Zaizen. Although it was two seasons long, the plot was actually simple and to the point. It wasn't draggy AT ALL in my opinion. Its about how life isn't just black and white but there are grey areas and also the inner workings of hospital life. Its about the power struggle, politics and of course human relationships.

Trick Season 2 [トリック2]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Abe Hiroshi and Nakama Yukie. Hilarious. I love investigative type of shows, so really enjoyed this. This drama didn't get a 9 because of the sometimes silly sexual references which i think were unnecessary... And i can't differentiate between Trick 2 and Trick 3. Don't ask me why. Both are enjoyable though.
Trick Season 3 [トリック3]

Wedding Planner [ウエディングプランナー]

Watched this long time ago on local TV. I can't remember what the plot was about, but i do know that i enjoyed this drama very much. The cast was great by the way, playing their characters well.
With love
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
Honestly speaking, didn't want to watch this AT ALL. But because i wanted to see all Yutaka's works at least once, i watched this on youtube with English subs when it was available. Not a fan of love stories per se. So i watched this with much scepticism. I don't quite like Yutaka's look here cos they are trying to promote him as a pretty boy, which i really dislike. And his cold personality in this drama didn't help matters. However that said, there was something about the plot in this drama that just keep me coming back for more and wanting to know what happens next. And in the end, i must say i enjoyed this drama overall. And the music pieces. WOW. I actually hunted down the two OSTs. Really love 'Once in a Blue Moon' and 'So Long' especially.

Have actually watched two episodes online. Very disturbed by the shouting that Yutaka did but it really made me re-evaluate my life at that point of time when i watched this. I stopped watching because i really felt that Yutaka's char was scolding me at one point because i really identified with one of the students he scolded. *sobs* Plus i can't find this anywhere with English subs. Finally gotten hold of DVD set in May 09 with English subs. Will watch this soon. I've gotten over the trauma of being 'scolded' by Yutaka.
