Gokusen [ごくせん]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Cute, funny, and shamelessly feel-good. Formulaic, cheesy, and drawn-out at times, but the plot progresses pretty well. A memorable, fun ride all-around. If you love high school dramas and funny dorkiness, you've gotta see this.
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [花ざかりの君たちへ]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Great casting all around--Nakutsu and the doctor are especially wonderful!! The boys are always at their best in high school dramas (duh), and the music gets really catchy at key moments. Anyway, Horitaka Maki makes an adorable enough boy (although you'd think her voice ought to be WAY more well-disguised). This series gets an 8/10 because I really can't stand live action Dorm 3. >_< Plus, the drama makes the sexual tension seem even more contrived than in the manga. Still, it is fascinating to watch Maki and think, "Is there any way she could actually pass as a boy?" This is one series you shouldn't miss if you are any kind of a fan of gender-bender comedies.
Hero
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Cute, funny, amazingly entertaining cast... the only thing that kept this from being a 10 was its choppy way of beginning and ending the series. Still, a definite must-see for all jdrama fans.
Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
I very nearly cried when I watched the first episode of this drama for the first time. Kame fits his role so perfectly, it's like it was made for him. Cute, wierd, and surprisingly honest, there is a real message of friendship, hope, and authenticity for everyone in this series. If you've given up and thought, "I can't change myself--I'll always be the way I've always been," this series is for you.
