Algernon ni Hanataba o [アルジャーノンに花束を]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
I've always thought of Yusuke Santamaria as a comedian first, but this is probably the best place to see him as a dramatic actor. His performance is poignantly charming. The drama's weak spot, IMO, was the rather bland character that Kanno Miho plays... Ishida Ayumi as the torn, neglectful mother of Haru is an interesting side story that wasn't even part of the book, but it adds so much more in the drama.
Bijo ka Yajuu [美女か野獣]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Too bad the chemistry between Fukuyama Masaharu & Matsushima Nanako is... uh, practically non-existent! It's mostly because Matsushima's character is so cold and doesn't really "change" per se around him... otherwise, it's really entertaining and gives a very interesting look at the drama behind TV news production.

Double score [ダブル スコア]
Rating: 4/10 (Watched)
The only thing that makes this work is the duo pairing of Sorimachi Takashi and Oshio Manabu [the latter as the subdued yet by-the-book cool rookie is a decent role for him to flesh out, too]...
Dr. Koto Shinryojo [Dr.コトー診療所]

Friends [フレンズ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
The only thing about this drama is the lack of believability in how each character understood one another despite the language barrier... some things were just a bit ridiculous? But still a sweet, interesting view of the classic love story.
Gokusen [ごくせん]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Entertaining series based off the manga. My first time seeing Nakama Yukie in an acting role... and now I know I need to see more of her in other dramas. :) Matsumoto Jun was also a nice surprise with his role here... just wish Ito Misaki had more of a role to flesh out, as well with Nakazawa Yuko.
Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!]

Home & Away [ホーム&アウェイ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
At times, unbelievable... but overall very entertaining and funny.

Japan's first sitcom! And it's only appropriate that you have Katori Shingo on board... The supporting cast is easily amusing, but Japanese humor is typically in a different style than American humor, which is why sitcom format doesn't seem to flow too well. It's a bit jerky and a bit odd, but the idea of the entire show is pretty fun.
Itsumo futari de [いつもふたりで]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Starts off a bit boring, but really gets interesting halfway through it. One of the more serious dramas with touches of comedy I enjoyed... and it has some of the best chemistry between guy/girl friendships.
Koi no Chikara [恋ノチカラ]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Doesn't really pick up until halfway through, but you'll feel glad you stuck with it. The ending is slightly a let-down, but still satisfying... Fukatsu Eri gives a great performance [as always!], but I leaned more towards Tsutsumi Shinichi myself. <3
Lunch no Joou [ランチの女王]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Mama no Idenshi [ママの遺伝子]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
I'm thinking moms would enjoy this more... but some of these really are on target with the whole mother-in-law relationship with the wife, esp. culturally. :D Very cute yet funny... too bad it's so overlooked! Definitely check this out for light family comedy.
Mayonaka no Ame [真夜中の雨]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Nurse no oshigoto Season 4
Rating: 4/10 (Watched)
Funny in certain spots, but Mizuki Arisa just doesn't do it for me in terms of comedy... a bit "over the top" sometimes.
Ooku [大奥]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Otousan [おとうさん]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
The four actresses = GREAT choices to play the certain types of characters!

Seikei Bijin [整形美人。]

Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi [空から降る一億の星]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
Probably the best suspense drama I've seen up til now. The plot is intricate, but its the complex characters with their history that really make this drama noteworthy... the cast is simply too great. The best part is the chemistry between Kimura Takuya and Akashiya Sanma...
Suika [すいか]

Wedding Planner [ウエディングプランナー]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
All-time favorite! There's something so sweet and cute about this love comedy. You get a different love story each time, and some very interesting views into different styles of modern, personal style weddings... but you also have one of THE best casts ever in any drama with all their problems. It normally is a tragic formula for lack of focus on certain characters in other dramas, but WP gives each character equal time to resolve their conflicts. For once, Yusuke Santamaria's blend of seriousness/comedy worked well... Iijima Naoko & Kimura Yoshino are also great as Kanako and Misaki. Hope to see more of Ito Ayumi (Kurumi); she's really good in this...
Yume no California [夢のカリフォルニア]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Interesting plotline, but man, it just drags its way on from episode 1. Contemplative, dark, and interesting questions on life itself, but add to the fact that you have got one of the most boring actors in Japanese drama history as the lead role [not to mention he plays the very role of a boring guy in itself!], and it just gets painfully tedious after a while.
