Coincidentally, the jdorama pics have them with almost the same expression and head tilts. Nino & Erika could be cousins o.O but Shii & Koichi actually have no blood ties right so it doesn't really matter if Shii looks different from the brothers. However, Ryo does remind me of Nino sometimes and looking at them having the exact same expression in those pictures, with soft eyes and that smirk (..inner fangirl squeeeeeing at the pretteeh ♥♥♥), they are Ariake Kyoudai alright

I think its normal for an autumn drama to start filming in the beginning of September, most Japanese drama schedule are like that. Afterall, seem like Nino-Ryo-Erika are busy at the moment? Erika with Code Blue, Nino with the upcoming FNS 24hrs and concert(?), and isn't Ryo is in the middle of a concert tour too now?

yes. I was referring to the Jdorama pictures I posted on page 1, suzzy-san. You don't think they have somewhat similar looks? Maybe its because Ryo's picture is quite blurry so his big nose was not so apparent making him look more Nino-ish but love the almost similar expression.

Like Yanie-chan mentioned Nino is currently busy with NTV's 24hr TV charity & Arashi upcoming concert rehersals. Ryo is like forever in a concert tours... Is it Kanjani8 tour or NEWS this time? I'm only aware of Arashi's at the moment
Thank you for the translation work yanie-chan! It'll be interesting to have insight to the original work before the drama. After constant comparison from Mawang to Maou, I think I can handle reviewing adaptations much better. Hopefully I won't be posting unhidden spoilers

Ah, to think again maybe I'm wrong. I just realized that dramas that starts filming a month before its pilot ep broadcast, is considered the latest already. I read that one of FujiTV's autumn drama, SCANDAL, has already start its filming since this week (or last week). Another FujiTV autumn drama, Kaze no Garden, has started even earlier, in mid or end of July.

For Ryusei, maybe it'll has the same schedule pattern as Maou. Anyone remember when did the news abt Ohno-Toma's photo session for Maou's poster, aired?

I think they shot the scenes about a month before the actual drama aired. Promotional shots were done 2months prior but that's not the finalized promo pictures (unlike the ones on their official web but just for press releases purposes).

I can say Ryusei is a bit behind on their schedule considering that this season dramas are almost ending. Giri-giri ne~ Hopefully they have started shooting by now since Nino will have an Asia tour with Arashi to deal with right smack in between, and of course all the other varieties, interviews, shoots, promos . hummm.. it'll be kind of crazy if Arashi is releasing a new single as the theme of Ryusei too.

Is it just me, or does Nino look like BoA in the Ryusei no Kizuna picture that yanie_chan found?

Well I think NEWS is releasing a new single in early October, but Ryo is with Kanjani8's Summer Tour right now (their second tour for the year), but the tour's ending on Aug 31st.

The announced air date of the drama is on October 17. I'm not sure where it was announced though but I'm positive my sources are right.

During Kanjani8's MC in Kyocera Dome Osaka, Ryo described his character as:

Hina : Ryo, this time it�fs going to be different right?
Ryo : Yeah�cthis time my character is not that dark�cit�fs going to be cheerful�cI�fve never done anything like this before�c
Hina : yeah�cthe characters you play always have a secret and dark past�c
Ryo : Oh, nothing has changed about the dark past thing�ccoz this time my character�fs parents were murdered�c
The rest : Oh, okay�c*laughing weirdly*

Except for the parents part, his character sounds pretty much like his true self in Kanjani8!
