Heya atheon i'm a rabbit too! GO TEAM RABBIT!! Nut
hmmm actually i had to learn a bit about chinese new year because of a crazy chinese friend of mine with loads of family coming because of it. The funniest thing i learned is that you can't clean on new years eve or on new years and you have to put the brooms and cleaning tools away because you might sweep up the good luck! Bleah
Happy chinese new year to everyone Mr Green

Year of the monkey:
Year Of The Monkey
Quote:
People born in the Year of the Monkey are the erratic geniuses of the cycle. Clever, skillful, and flexible, they are remarkably inventive and original and can solve the most difficult problems with ease. There are few fields in which Monkey people wouldn't be successful but they have a disconcerting habit of being too agreeable. They want to do things now, and if they cannot get started immediately, they become discouraged and sometimes leave their projects. Although good at making decisions, they tend to look down on others. Having common sense, Monkey people have a deep desire for knowledge and have excellent memories. Monkey people are strong willed but their anger cools quickly. They are most compatible with the Dragon and Rat.
The rest of the zodiacs have a link as well.

In Hawaii, Chinese New Year is celebrated, usually in an area within Downtown Honolulu they call "Chinatown". They have the same activities as any other celebration (dragon dance, etc.) They also have the Narcissus festival, which includes a beauty pageant. Man, there's some really gorgeaus Chinese women in the pageant.

BTW, speaking of New Years... Check out the Calendar FAQ. There's some really fastinating stuff about calendars of all types in the document, as well as info on keeping time throughout history. This link is always among my top-10 list of web sites to visit.
