Actually I did not enjoy Versus as it is again one of those All Action and No Story movies. In fact, it is painfully slow for an action movie. The best way to describe it is Resident Evil (or Biohazard) in a Forest, only worse. There are way better movies out there to watch so don't waste your time.

I thought it was fun, not a great film... but fun. There was a story, not grandiose, but definitely present.
So, I recommend "wasting time" if you have it to waste.
ja
wow..
hehe, i guess i will watch it sometime soon, doesn't matter really, i have plenty of time to waste

Well, I'd actually mostly agree with FierceStiker. Versus does have some fun moments, but it does kind of go on and on without really going anywhere. I think it would have been a lot more fun as a short movie.

I brought my DVD to work and me and my co-worker laughed our asses off the entire film.
I like it. But whatever. bash away. _________________
Shunji Iwai's masterpiece, Love Letter, is being aired tonight on the broadcastin service tv station! Yay! It's been nearly 5 years since I saw the movie back then. Miho Nakayama's performance is absolutely superb! Can't wait to see it twice

Sadly, it was not meant to be a funny movie. However, I know what you mean, I laughed my ass off and was playing drinking games with my friend on "Who can predict what happens next?" Let me just tell you, we got druuuunnnnk, . Perhaps the director should try comedies and then put them into The Best Tragedy of the Year contest. He should definitely win the unintentional good director of the year.

I thought Versus was good. Decent, fun action. And had a plot that I bought; and intrigued me. They coulda' done w/out that ending, though.
I also got to see one of Ryuhei Kitamura's more recent films (at last Fall's Hawai'i International Film Festival, LIKE YOU CARE ), Aragami [SPOILERS AHEAD] (which is supposed to act as some kind of companion piece to a 2LDK, about scorned actresses or something). That was a better "duel" film than Versus, to me, because it's a long fight-out between two samurai (well, one of 'em is, though both become . . . ah, I'll let ya'll see it). I liked Aragami's link to Miyamoto Musashi. Heh.
You Tak Sakaguchi fans might wanna check out Battlefield Baseball [SPOILERS AHEAD] if you were impressed by his Versus performance. More lighthearted role (I think it's based on a manga) but, his character DOES end up killing folks he's not supposed to kill (like his dad) with his mega baseball pitch. He performs karaoke vignettes that had the entire theatre laughing, by the way.

Bash? Hmm, are you taking my comments the wrong way? Isn't it okay to have a difference of opinion? I just think that while it had some amusing parts, overall, it didn't really go anywhere. The director (Kitamura Ryuhei) does action well, but he does seem to be a bit fixated on dueling.
I think ushiroyubi was refering to the movie and not your comment.

Yes, but I didn't think I was bashing the movie. Bashing carries the connotation of harshness or prejudice against the target, which was not present in my criticism!
Wow I knew I have to watch it when I first saw that trailer.
Even if the plot is bad, its unique style and special effects are enough reasons for me to NOT miss it!!
Those reviews are like big boosters for me, thanks!!!
Anyone knows if it's coming to Singapore cinemas?

According to "Ain't it Cool News"'s "Elston Gunn's WEEKLY RECAP" column (http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=17436), which is culled from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter magazines, "Sissy Spacek will star opposite Naomi Watts and Simon Baker in THE RING 2 for DreamWorks and director Hideo Nakata. Production begins next month from a script by Ehren Kruger."
Man. They're essentially bringing the cinematic Stephen King's Carrie to do this show.
Oh, in addition (also mentioned at that link), "Emily VanCamp ("Everwood") is in final talks to play the young female lead in THE RING 2 for DreamWorks . . ."

I don't think he's in any movie..to my knowledge..I searched his name on YesAsia..and other website that sell dvds..and nothing comes up besides his drama series. If you're asking about drama type his name..move it from drama to artiste and click sure and all of dramas should come up..I suggest Majo no Jouken, News no Onna, and SOS..all good..the three that I've seen him in.

Sorry dude..but there was a movie with Takizawa in it, it's called "Door To Your Heart". I've been looking for it too actually. This movie was pretty old so it's going to be very hard to find it.
