Big thanks to eltinator and amrayu for this series!

I just watched everything now and bumped in here. It was one of the finer JDramas I've seen I must say. First time I heard the title I thought this was going to be a bit childish, so wrong I was, this had a mix of everything even comical situations but mostly it was serious enough to keep everything together. Easy put, it was a beautiful drama and very sincere.

Things I liked was how little Miss Ueto had her tiny after-speech in every episode ending, very short but it added some kind of mood which felt good. In whole it was a very well balanced drama where nothing were particularly over-used. Just love the idea of dealing with relation problems connected to food as the storyline. Ueto Aya was good in her role (and sometimes very funny) and Yada Akiko was great as the Chef.

Watching the credits of the last episode made me realise of just how packed this series was, alot of things happened and all I wanted was more episodes hehe.

usually, im not a fan of the short story series. i was actually under the impression that "my little chef" was not one of these. aside from yada akiko and aya ueto being hot, the vignettes were touching and humorous. i guess all in all, id have to take by statement about not like dramas that are packed with short stories. big mahalos to studio oto

I agree when you watch the end it does really illustrate all the interesting things that happened. Nice show.

Good question. I've seen him in other dramas before, but I have no idea what's his name. I know he is starring in his own drama this season though. However, I don't recall the name of that.

My Little Chef totally rocked. w00t!

But unless your someone that likes food-themed stories, it's not likely to be a dorama for you. There are no serious car chases, violence, love triangles, spy intrigue, fashion-show like glamour scenes of the actresses and actors, touristy cinematography, expensive and exotic cars, et cetera. Thus, My Little Chef depends a lot more on the story and characters, which is fine with me! Smile

Yup, I agree with everyone here - My Little Chef is a great show! Yada Akiko is a real cutey but more importantly, her character fit in very well with everyone else. And Abe Hiroshi does a very good job of playing the manager. And the "plot" of some of the episodes were very touching. I especially like the one with the little kid and his parents in episode 8 (don't want to give the episode so I won't say more).
Definitely worth watching!

Yeah, there's a focus on broken families and redemption in My Little Chef.

As Paul Simon sang, "I want a shot at redemption."

This is why I think threads about; Which are the Good Shows?... Which are the Bad Shows!... Which are the Important Shows? are a waste of space.

I watched all of "My Little Chef" and I thought it was one of the most pointless, vapid little confections ever to flit across my TV screen.

I watched it because I'm a big fan of some of the actors and actresses in it.

I watched it because I love shows that feature people doing something really well. Especially cooking. (But they didn't do any cooking in this show, did they? They showed the star tug her ear, they created a lighting effect, and then they showed a finished dish, and rambled on about how that dish will solve the customers personal problems. Jeez-Oh!)

In my opinion, it wasn't funny, it wasn't touching, and it wasn't compelling. Good grief, even Hiroshi Abe couldn't make this thing interesting.

It was, as I said earlier, "Love Boat" in a Restaurant... But without the laughs.

AND YET...

pcmodem and Nihon-jin and lunas and a bunch of others absolutely loved it.

And guess what? They're not wrong for having loved this show.

And I'm not wrong for having been bored and disappointed by this show.

Yep, and I fully support Geezer's opinion. Each of us has different taste (pun intended with respect to My Little Chef). One of the things that can make this forum a great place is that when we have differing views, we can express them in an diplomatic and well-informed manner. Good

Some of the most educational experiences I've had come from discussions with those of entirely different viewpoints. Applaud

To me they don't have to make much point I always go with the feeling I get from them. Although I gave it a top grade I'll have to say top grades are divided among themselves as well. This was a light drama I admit (but it was great in it's light genre) so I would never compare it to my other (so far) top picks like GTO, Long Vacation, Beautiful life or Friday's lovers all of them held me glued to the screen like nothing I've seen before. So yeah maybe I was a bit generous to give it a 10, but then I would never associate JDramas to Love Boat either hehe.

My Little Chef...........

Had a weak story line.....a chef who could talk to customers and create a wonderful meal based on the customer's lifestyle. The restaurant had no customers at all and must have gone bankrupt. The theme music was good and other than that it was pretty bad.

I would say the only thing worth watching was:

The beautfiful Yada Akiko

and..........the beautfiful Ueto Aya

I enjoyed the show. I can see how many people may find it a little boring though. I thought the little mini stories were touching and interesting. I really loved the acting by all parties. It's one of those shows some people will love Applaud and other will think it's a snore fest Sleep

I saw it a while back and thought it was absolutely sweet. Loved the mini-stories, loved the music, loved the actors. Okay it was a bit thin plot-wise, but what the heck, I enjoyed it. Now that it has been fansubbed, I need to get ahold of that version and watch it again, actually.
