Currently, I fell in love with Hana Yori Dango's story, as soon as I watched Meteor Garden! The story is just sooooo cool!! I admire Kamio Youko(the manga-ka)'s ability in creating the solid characters!

However, I can't stand the Taiwanese actors' acting, esp. the F4 guys...soooooo stiff!! Can't they do any better than that??? If its not because of the story and the amazingly faithful plotline to the manga(kudos to the scriptwriter!!^^), I wouldn't got through watching this 19 episodes drama.

Due to this unsatisfyness, I'm DYING to get the Japanese live-action movie starring Uchida Yuki as Makino Tsukushi(Shan Cai)! And, if I'm not mistaken, Fukuyama Masaharu as one of the F4 boys! Anyone seen this movie?? How is it?? Coz, I read some comments said it was quite cheesy but still enjoyable to watch...

Anyway, if anyone knows where can I get this Hana Yori Dango live-action movie VCD, pls DO tell me where can I get it!!^^ It'd be very helpful for me! Thank you....

I wish there's a J-drama adaptation of this manga =(

~Hanazawa Rui(Hua Zhe Lei) rules!^^~

As for me, I guess Ken and Vanness did pretty good job in their acting. Too bad, they are not given the main roles in the show. Although I have to admit that the story is quite interesting, there is really an over-emphasis on the relationship between Doumyouji Tsukasa and Makino - typical of most Japanese romance drama. Anyway, the opening theme song is really nice !!Smile

hehe, yup, add kintarou to the list too, i tot hua zhe lei was too cool in meteor garden!

but what is the story of peach girl n poor price about?

This is to anyone who has read teh manga n watch the series...I think someone mentioned Meteor Garden is very faithful to the manga, but is it exactly the same? And does it end where the TV show ended?

Well...not EXACTLY the same, if you're talking about scenes...coz converting a comic story to a drama story...you just HAVE TO change some things, to make it look more real or make it less-hyper ^_^

And that's what I like from MG script, Angie Chai made a great faithful script, she don't change the essence of the changed scenes. There's no meaningful changes to the story, too...she just change little things which I don't really mind^^ I think the script was really well- written!! Still, some changes made me a *little* dissapointed, just a little, though ^_^

1. In the manga, Tsukushi and F4 were highschool students. In the drama, they were university students. Actually, I think being highschool students makes F4 looks cooler, coz they don't wear uniforms, while the other students does, it just show their power more^^

2. In the manga, Tsukushi has a younger brother named Susumu. In the drama, she's an only child. Although Susumu don't really have any important role, I'm still a little dissapointed with this, coz that makes the Makino house less merrier =P

3. In the manga, there are 3 annoying girls who likes to tease Tsukushi: Asai, Ayuhara, and Yamano. While, there are only 2 in the drama.

4. Apparently, the producer merged Makiko and Sakurako's characters to 'Li Zhen'. Makiko is Tsukushi's only friend in school and she's a sweet girl. Tsukushi meets Sakurako in Shizuka's birthday party, Tsukushi saved Sakurako from a pervert old man. Turns out, Sakurako likes Doumyouji and envy Tsukushi, she slander Tsukushi with her naked pictures.

5. In the manga, Tsukushi and Kazuya goes to Atami(a vacation place, mostly for old people^^) for their summer holiday, coz Kazuya's parents have a house for holidays there, as a matter of fact, Tsukushi's parents tag along, too(since they insist to =P)! Then, Doumyouji & co came, with his luxurious cruise ship, on the beach.
In the drama, Tsukushi's parents do not tag along, and there's only a cruise ship, no vacation place^^

6. In the manga, Tsukushi only stand in the corner alone on the cruise party. In the drama, Tsukushi dance with Akira, Soujirou and Rui.

7. In the manga, Doumyouji waited for Tsukushi in the middle of snowing, so when Tsukushi arrives, he's kinda covered with snow^^ In the drama, Doumyouji waited for Tsukushi in the rain.

8. In the manga, Doumyouji and Tsukushi trapped in an elevator.
In the drama, Doumyouji and Tsukushi trapped in emergency staircase.

9. They also left out the trip to Canada...I think it's a pity, coz this is where Doumyouji and Tsukushi's love relationship were actually develop. Lefting out this part, it just seems their love in MG, were out of the blue...

10. Hana Yori Dango haven't finish yet in Japan, it just got to vol. 31 and still running!!^^ So they made their own ending...the last scene that still follows the comic was probably a scene from vol 28-29...

Note: Doumyouji = Dao Ming Si
Tsukushi = Shan Cai
Rui = Hua Zhe Lei
Akira = Mei Zuo
Soujirou = Xi Men
Kazuya = Qing He
Shizuka = Jing

hey 'guest' :)

thanks for the detailed analysis of the differences. seems like most of the modifications is to facilitate the filming process..like relocating the cast to canada, hiring extra 'ke le fe'... or getting a snow-making machine^^

in fact, i found the ending a bit abrupt, after everything they had to go through. dats why i wanted to know more about the manga version, even tho i totally cannot read chinese!

however, i think now they are making mg2. wondering how faithful the sequel will be to the storyline or even the 'spirit' of the manga.
