This is intended for intermediate Japanese and up:
Please feel free to post expressions, usages, vocabularies, grammar, etc..(Recommend first time Japanese learner to learn the plain, generic, or general-purpose Japanese; in another words, Japanese that is used around Tokyo)

Please note: Kansai Ben runs on a different system in terms of usage, speech, grammar, writing. Also, although not complicated, it is still a complex system where everything is used differently in communicating thoughts and ideas. Therefore, it would confuse esp. beginner learners of their formal Japanese training.

Enjoy~! Ishooni ganbarou~

Kansai ben is a dialect devoloped in the Kansai region from the old days since now; hence, it is known as "Kansai ben" (ben is translated and denoted as 'dialect') Also, Kyoto ben and Osaka ben are also differently developed as they are in different part of the region. The irony is that in the modern days, people found that Kansai ben to be a impolite and too direct. However, it is the whole culture that developed in this particular region defined that people live in the region, not the language or the dialect itself. This as a whole makes that Kansai region differently from Tokyo-Fu region because they have developed into a different people over time.

Kansai-Kanto

Nandeyanen-Nandayo (What the hell?)
Ahoyanen-Bakatare (Dummy/Idiot)
Ahochaude-Bakajanai (I'm not an idiot/fool/dumb ass)
Dekihen-Dekinai (Can't do it/Unable to)
Kikoehen-Kikoenai (Can't hear)
Miehen-Mienai (Doesn't look like/Won't look/Don't see)
Souyaro-Soudeshou (Right?!)
Akkan de-Dame (No!/Don't!)
Wakarahen/Wakaran-Wakaranai/Wakannai (I don't know/I don't understand)
Shiran-Shiranai (I don't know)
Chau-Chigau (No/That's not it/Incorrect/It's not like that/That's not the case)
Souyana-Soudana (Yeah, that's right/Yeah, I see/Yeah, I agree)

Nani shitonen-Nani shiteru no (What are you doing?/Whatcha doin'?)
Nani yatten de-Nani yatten da yo (What the hell are you doing?)
Nani eutonen-Nani itte no (What did you say?/Whatcha talking about?)
Aho-Baka (Idiot/Fool/Dumb ass)

Note: In Kansai, when you say "Aho", it means "idiot" or "fool". Same as when you say it in Kanto as "Baka".
If you were to call someone "Aho" in Kansai, it's easily brushed off. If you were to call someone "Baka" in Kansai, it would be taken as an insult.
Same rule applies vice versa. In Kanto, call someone "Aho" and they'll get upset. Call them "Baka", ain't such a big deal.

yah know... When i went to live in Kyoto for a little bit. I went to a book store and I came across a Kansai-ben textbook. Heh... you can probably find it in any major bookstore that has an English book section/ Japanese study books.

Omoroi-yan na!?!

here's another for the list!

bochi-bochi den na - im doin good

hrmmmm.... I have others but being that I only was in that area for a lil bit.....wakaran!

Although if you wanna know some Mikawa-ben (City within Aichi-ken called Okazaki) then you could try:

taberin - tabetekudasai
nomerin - nonnde kudasai
damon de - desu kara

hehehe... Nut

Little off the topic of Kansai-ben.

Okinawan dialect..... all I know is "Hasai" (Konnichiha)

-Pretty sad for someone whose majority of ancestory goes back to Itoman village in Okinawa. The other part of my ancestory goes back to Hiroshima and I don't even know the dialect there.
Anybody know "Hogen"? (Okinawa dialect) or anything in Hiroshima dialect?

OI Malorum!!! Nandeyanen! Ore no kaachan koto nani eutonen?!

Hahaha. Uso da! Jyodan de! hehe

(F.Y.I. : You gotta put one more "A" in there [before the "C"])

okinawan dialect: Hoogen

uchinanchu (okinawan)
oma (bruise)
also many okinawans talk about themself as a third person (using their own names in speech).
i cant think of many okinawan words, i forgot most of them. stayed there for 1 summer, and a week during winter break.
