@Tu
I'm a newb here not on the net
I know that if it's licensed then it's not legal O_O...
But I found Dragon Zakura On veoh so it's all good ^_^
Thanks
I'm glad you found the drama, Mika-kun but you said if it's licensed then it's not legal....but I think you MEANT to say if it's NOT licensed then it's not legal.
in any case....enjoy the dorama...but don't have any illusions that ANY doramas on veoh or crunchyroll are LEGAL or LICENSED because they are NEITHER.

It amuses me when people want to be "legal" then download it from some site. If you're not paying the company who made the show for the download or buying the DVDs, then it ain't legal. _________________

Hi all - first post here.
Like many posters I just can't bring myself to read through 150+ pages of this thread, so apologies if it's been asked and answered- although I did read the last few pages and didn't find anything on what I'm after.
I'm looking for a drama in the cop / detective / mystery / thriller genre, but one that is NOT your typical 'case of the week'. It seems with J-Drama all the continuity-heavy series are your typical romance or comedy, whereas the moment anything gets to be outside those realms it's very repetitive. When I lived in Japan a bunch of years ago, I like Sashou Taiko and the Ringu series (after the movies had come out); both had decent continuity. For North American dramas, I like something like Lost, 24, or Dexter much more than any of the CSI shows or thier clones. Continuity is key!
It's too bad more J-dramas don't feature heavy continuity on the police / mystery side, since the short season lends itself perfectly to telling one long, intricate story that has a definitive end point in sight. i.e. it doesn't get stretched out to milk money from the series' fans, unlike lots of manga series or popular North American tv shows.
So.... long post short, anyone have any good suggestions? Especially from the past year or so, so I would have a shot at actually finding them on one of the torrent sites. I see ones like Aibo now, which my wife watches, are your typical 'case of the week'. Anything along the lines of what I'm looking for?

Most of these are in the mystery/thriller genre, some are cop dramas, but hopefully you find what you're looking for:
~ Unfair (cop/mystery)
~ Nemureru Mori
~ Chakushin Ari (supernatural thriller like the Ring)
~ Saimin
~ Koori no Sekai (a bit slow-moving, but fits the cop/mystery part)
~ Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi (hope you can find decent subs for this)
~ Long Love Letter (more on the sci-fi side, but there's a lot of mystery involved)
~ Yasha (haven't seen it yet, but it sounds good)
~ Harmonia (part love story, part mystery/thriller)
ETA: Whoops, I missed the "especially from the past year or so" part, but hopefully you can find these dramas on torrent or download sites.
ETA again: Wow, I just made 1,800 posts! And I'm glad that it was an informative one instead of a silly spam one. _________________

Thanks very much!
Try Unfair http://www.jdorama.com/drama.992.htm It's not just "case of the week", there's an ongoing storyline... and it stars Ryoko Shinohara, so you can't go wrong!
*edit* Cori-chan beat me to it. But at least we agree!

Hey, I just made my mother watch Nodame Cantabile, and surprisingly she really likes it!
However, the series is coming to an end and she asked me what we would watch next?
So what would you recommend me watching with my mother?
I think she likes a light-hearted Comedy, like Nodame, nothing too romantic, nothing too sad ... I thought of My Boss My Hero or Hana Kimi. Any other suggestions? ;__;

i just read the description of akihabara@deep and it sounds quite good too, thanks!! =)
Hana Yori Dango maybe not, but i didn't think of papa to musume! That was quite funny too, right!
Actually the film "Freaky Friday" has the same (very similar) story, I think she knows this film. I'll ask her how she liked it..~ maybe she wants to see a Jdorama to this story too =)
