Tokyo Love Story main theme
(the love story that come suddenly)

How should I start telling you? Time passes while I ponder over this- The only commonplace words that come to my mind are disappearing right away- Because you are too nice, I can't just say to you I love you- Perhaps even the rain will soon stop, but we are in the twilight- If I can't meet you on that day, at that time, at that place- We will stay like two strangers forever-
Don't be attracted by someone else's sweet talk, don't let your heart waver -Even though it's sad, I can't bind your heart like that- If tomorrow comes, I will love you even more -All the love within me will surpass even time itself -I'll be your wings for you to fly with, and continue to protect you- I'll be the breeze that wraps itself around you gently- Now that your heart has been moved, hold your words and come closer to me-I won't forget this day, and I won't let anyone take you away- Don't be attracted by someone else's sweet talk, don't let your heart waver.I'll be the breeze which wraps itself around you

hi! minna...a few direct questions about the ending

(i still don't get how they actually break up)so d questions are:-

1. what rika & kanji said while in the field?

2. did kanji introduce rika to his mom?
(are you wondering why i asked this? hmmm...)

3. does the two do things together in the village, such as visit places
and stuff (are you wondering why i asked this? hmmm...)

4. what about this train i read that rika took an earlier train, so is it rika that actually left kanji?

5. what happened in the train back to tokyo ? i read it somewhere saying its the most striking one, did rika cried or something?

6. whats kanji's expression when rika left him- is he happy?

7. how in the world did kanji got married with satomi-he asked her to? or shes the one asking for it?

8. do kanji and rika meet again after kanji got married?

phew! those are my questions, hope there are answers from any of you kind people out there. i'm having tokyo love story dreams nowadays, help me put an end to these dreams...

Hi Ezza Smile,

I watched this show a few years back, so I will try my best to answer your questions.

1)They talked about Kanji's past in the field, Rika was just tryingto know more about Kanji and his past.(I guess she knows that Kanji's heart is already not with her and she is trying to revive as many memories before the end.)

2)Kanji did not introduce her to his mum.

3)They did visit some places, not very significant...

4)Let me give you some background...when they are walking around, Rika indirectly asked Kanji to make up his mind, Who does he want to be with? If he wants Rika, then meet her at the train station at ???(Can;t remember Bleah the time). It took Kanji a long time to think about it but he still ran there. When he reached there, Rika is already not there...After he asked the train conductor there, he was told that she had already left on the earlier train...it was then that he saw a white cloth with "Sayonara" written on it ... So yes, Rika did leave him.

5) Yes, Rika did cry very hard here... ( From this scene, it can be said that she actually loves Kanji very much and she sacrifice herself for the happiness of Kanji and Satomi.)

6) No, his expression was one of extreme sadness.

7) and 8) This part was not shown. Yes, Rika did meet Kanji and Satomi after a few years and that was how i knew that Kanji married Satomi.

The good news is that after their meeting, the show ended with Rika smiling brightly and looking at the sunset... Smile

thanks a zillion for answering my questions, now i'm in complete peace at heart.

rika loves kanji very much indeed. hmm love with all your heart may not be the best way to meet the love of your life. destiny play major part in it indeed

but i do agree about that kanji- he's not worthed. i'm just glad rika could go on with her life happily

It's an old dorama from 1994 and Yutaka Takenouchi played in it...English title is "Tokyo university love story". If anyone has seen it, can you tell me if it's good? And how big is the role of Takenouchi in it?
Not very much information on this dorama on this site so that's why I'm asking. Thanks.

The main stars are Inagaki Goro (from SMAP) and Seto Asaka. Its about a high school love story. Goro plays a student with very good results. He aims to apply for the prestigious Tokyo University. Seto Asaka is his love interest. Takenouchi Yutaka plays Asaka's classmate. Yutaka was interested in Asaka but gave up when he saw that Goro was very determined to get Asaka. Not bad drama. Its a good chance to see everyone so young. Are you from Singapore? I still have the copy. I can sell it to you at a cheap price. My e-mail is [email protected]

Even thou I love Rika and Toyko love story to death, but the ending is just arkward.

Ok, I am talking about Rika not hooking up with Kanji, but how they broke up.

Rika, broke up with Kanji because she wants to take this job at L.A.
After she gets there, she quits the job after 6 months.
So if Kanji didn't pressure her to go, she would have never went for the job that she would eventually quit, They still be together, and a happy ending.

But ofcouse thats not what the author had in mind! Humft~

I've read this thread for the first time and its unbelievable they'd leave out a full vcd for the ending. Did the cover say 8 or 7 vcds?....maybe it was just missing from the package when they sold it to you. Mine had 8 vcds......just about all of my dramas, especially the major ones have 8 or 9 vcds. It also always states number of discs on the cover.

BTW, I really thought the ending was f***** up but still very good. Rika was a glutton for punishment.

I like the ending very much! The ending presented a mesaage that love is not what you get but what you can give in a relationship. Rika gave him so many chances to pick her! I think the last chance she gave him was the train station scene. If I love Rika that much, I would have been sitting there waiting for her an hour before! That was just another Rika's test for him. But he has to showed up late and Rika knew the answer anyway. Therefore, she deceided to leave on an earlier train. Remember? Rika does things 100% and the number 2 girl in someone's like is not for her. I think she is happy to see him married to someone he loved. But they still have that special bond between them. i.e. the dailing of the invisible phone, the way they say goodbyes in the park...Kanji, Kanji what a fool! He is willing to be the #2 guy in someone's life!

Yes the ending is bitter-sweet,

It took me over a week to get over it, I felt as if I lost a girlfriend, feeling all upset all week.

But you are wrong about Rika waiting for him on the Train. She has no intention of giving him that chance.

Remember when Rika mailed the good-bye letter when they went to the Temple, That was before the Train. She had planned everything from the begining, even their break up.

hi mighty1005,

tokyo love story. it's really good. it's about a girl who falls in love with a guy who loves another girl. the plot's really, really good. trust me on that. and it hits home real hard - since it's more reality-based than fantasy. although their looks & dresses are way too 90s, the acting really compensates for their looks. i'm sure you wouldn't waste your money on this one... cuz this is one of the best i've seen. Smile

hope this helps! Big Grin

Was this drama ever subtitled? I was always interested in this dorama as it's been called a classic and is very well known and loved by fans. I've searched high and low, but haven't ever been able to find any person who has it, or if it was ever show on TV. I think I ran into this trader's site once, and he said he taped it off of I think FCI several years back, and he lived in San Fran, which is one of the areas where FCI is stationed. Sadly, the admin's page was several years old so there is no luck in contacting him. I have seen box sets of it for sale, but they all have Chinese subtitles, myself not versed at all in Cantonese (Though my grandparents are... though I never learned it myself) find this of little help lol. Anyway, does anyone have any info on whether it was subbed or not, and where to find it if possible? !~Many Thanks~!

Catch you later,
Id
