I usually pride myself in the fact that I have an open mind and I can usually understand why directors/writers make the choices they do when dealing with characters, plot, and storyline.
I must have been really close-minded when watching this drama. It started off great. I normally enjoy Oda Yuji, and after I got over the initial shock of watching a drama older than I�fm used to, I started to enjoy the performances by the other artistes – especially that of Suzuki Honami. She�fs managed to portray one of the most memorable characters I�fve come across in my drama-watching career. She instantly drew me in and her character�fs relationship with Oda�fs really sparked my interest. This drama had a great balance between romance, comedy, and angst. I like how it dealt with mature feelings and circumstances. Up until perhaps the eighth episode everything was going smoothly, until I slowly began to realize that Oda was slowly turning into a jerk and that the emotional rise given by the story was false and cruel. The way the drama ended completely shattered my perfect ending.
To be fair, it wasn�ft necessarily a horrendous ending. But it wasn�ft the ending that I wanted and for some reason I can�ft get over this. Tokyo Love Story is a great drama until the end,

O, and Arimori Narimi was a great peeve of mine. As was Eguchi�fs hair. But Arimori moreso. There. _________________

After watching TLS, I never watched another drama with Arimori Narimi in it. That is how much I hated her charactor It was not so much only her but Kanji and his jellyfish backbone. In the end the pairing deserved each other, though it caused me to go on a major drinking binge and start chain smoking.

This drama deserves its place as one of all-time classic for the character of Akana Rika, if nothing else. It turned me into a big fan of Suzuki Honami almost instantly.
The ending song is so beautiful. It's specially written for Rika, with the fitting title of "A Love Song For You Who Refuse To Cry".

This is the perfect way to say it. I was completely enamored in this love story, but the ending ruined it completely. Actually, really, the last 10 minutes is what ruined it, loved it up till that point. This is really the only drama where I was left angry after the last scene... that's pretty bad. Basically, the writer made us root for the wrong person, I think that's where it went wrong and why the ending is so unsatisfactory.

Really? I, for one, think the character of Rika is excrutiatingly annoying that she almost made me stop watching halfway through But I do like the actress, Suzuki Honami, just not her character in the drama.

Omg, I totally agree on wanting those two coming back to Jdramas. They are in a class of their own and many "actresses" that star in dramas nowadays cannot be compared to their greatness. _________________

I agree, of course,..
but of late there has been some activity by some seasoned actresses in recent dramas...
notably Yui Natsukawa in Muri na Renai...
and another drama...Top Sales...with Yui Natsukawa and Ishida Hikari.... _________________
