ignoramus:
When was the last time the server went down? How frequent? Point noted about linking the reviews, but I'll still keep them logically separate. Once is for comments (short) and one for reviews (more comprehensive) though many haev been treating the reviews like the latter.

Gin07:
Thanks for the offer, will try to provide a better mechanism for writing reviews... (will be in the update)

marzyu:
domain registration: directnic.net
Where I'm from? Notice that you can click on registered users' names?

Michi:
Not now, like I said, any updates can only commence some time in May (busy now). Thanks anyway, hang on. :)

Will try to consolidate the ideas and put online in a day or two for reference.

Not at the moment, you can't. Was too eager to launch the site that several features were left out. Bleah Since next update may let you have more personal features, you'll be able to change your details then.

No problem.

BTW, the "future updates" are accessible from the main menu above. Do post here if I've left anything out.

What does everyone think about the current database structure? As in, what other information do you think should be in? (e.g. scriptwriter of dramas, etc) This is a good time to add some fields.. screenshots?

Hi All,
I think something everyone can do, since we all check the forum, is to write our own reviews on dramas in the "My Dorama" section. You can click on my name and see what I've said about the dramas I've watched. I often click on the members names only to find that they haven't put anything there, or list what dramas they've seen, but don't write any comments. I think it might be too much on Genma to write a whole bunch of reviews, but If Genma checks our own reviews periodically, I would think Genma has the ability to cut and paste what he likes. Genma, you don't have to do that either, but I think it's a good idea for us as forum members to update our own dorama info.

As far as updates, I do wish there were more pictures, and more summaries of the dramas.

Namielove

P.S. Genma, you wouldn't happen to be a panda would you? ( ^ _ ^ )

Hi Namielove

Hmm.. what kind of reviews would you look for? Detailed or brief? If you've checked out some movie websites, they host lots of detailed reviews about the shows. Things like how the actors have fared, how the storyline provoked any thoughts, etc. That was my initial aim for the reviews.

As for the personal dramas list, it'll still be there, and hopefully with more people writing something in it. When writing, picture yourself as another forum member reading it. It helps make what you write more interesting. :)

ps: no, there's no water around so I ain't no panda yet =P

Good you got my silly little joke. ( ^ _ ^ ) I do like detailed reviews, but understand that those are time consuming. I myself have trouble writing reviews of things, I want to say so much, but I don't know how to put it. I always look at my own profile, I have lots of stuff in there I need to fix. ( ^ _ ^ )

You can treat those as more personal comments than reviews, since people clicking on your name would be interested in finding opinions from *you* and not a particular drama. Anyway, will be trying to think of a solution to this one...

The website/forum you mentioned, its still not available? It'll always redirect to an unavailable page (404 Not Found).

Genma,

Gomen ne. I was trying to access to that web site for days too, but to no avail. I guess it was down for construction.

Maybe I can just tell you the features in that messageboard.

1) Personalised Icon, signature, username
2) Personal diary
3) Uploading of pics available
4) Member list
5) Personal messager with means to communication with other members.

Hi Gin07 and tokyoluvstory,

Points noted, except that I'll leave out the diary part, doesn't seem too relevant..?

Anyway, thinking of multi-language support, what other languages would be wanted? Some speak Malay, Chinese, Japanese, Bahasa Indonesia, etc. Maybe we'll just stick to English for now.. Smile

since this is a j-dorama site, the least that can be expected would be supporting the input and display of japanese character set right (kanji, hiragana and katakana ) ?

Eiquest; (Ecopy;Entilde;Epara;)A Efrac12;Efrac14;Efrac14; (EETH;Eccedil;Eordf;EEgrave;)AEETH;Efrac14;Efrac14; (Ecopy;Efrac12;Ecopy;EEgrave;)B

Genma, first of all I'd like to say that you've really built an amazing database on jdramas and Japanese actors and actresses. Well done.
I have a suggestion.
Maybe you could add a rule to this forum, a rule that almost every forum and chat channel uses. Ask people to add spoiler warnings.
Example:

****spoiler warning about the ending****
"Mr. Y will die in the end of sickness, and Ms. Y will remain alone ever after. I was really disappointed with this ending."
****end of spoiler****

This way, people who encounter such a spoiler warning know whether to read on or not depending on how much of the series they've seen. The flow of discussion will also not be harmed, as only people who've actually watched the ending can discuss this point anyway, thus only these people will read on and others are saved from being spoiled.
Don't worry about losing members: nearly all (if not all) gaming/movie/anime forums/IRC chat channels use this rule, and it's accepted in the scene as "common sense".
I believe this will work in a positive way for this forum, because now people do not have to worry when someone writes a forum in his post out of nowhere and spoils an important part of the drama.
You might also be able to apply this rule to the review section...

I hope you will take this suggestion into consideration. Thank you.
