Hi all Lovey Eyes

It's my first post here, even if I came thousands of times already Crazy

I'm learning japanese on my own like other here I guess ^o^. So, I've made a website to help learning kanji / vocabulary.

Last week, I've also made some "kanji cards" (starting after the 6 first grades).

Well, all of that to say that I'd be happy to share my work with other learners, cause it takes hours to do it (even if there are just 16 cards in this first "set").

Oh, I'm still a beginner, so, if you find any mistakes, please be indulgent, and help me to correct it Rolling eyes

I've released a "torrent" for this one, you can find it here

You are also welcome to my website and I'd be happy to read your comments Beaten

I hope I'm in the right category here, if you think this post is bad, then delete it Rolling eyes

Oki, I've to learn too now, bye Wink.

EDIT: I've edited the link to the torrent website as the previous was dead Sweat

Thanks ^-^.

I hope I'll be able to help even if I think that "I need more help that I can give", haha...

It's a long way to reach the top of the immortal mountain, and I'm still at the lowest step Sweat

Don't worry, you'll get there eventually..

I started off studying Japanese by myself during highschool..

..now I am studying at a university in Japan on a scholarship.

You'll get there.. it just takes time, and effort, and money, lack of sleep, etc etc.. hehe Beaten

Haha, that's right, I just need time Wink. I tried to start several time to learn japanese. I gave up as well, but since one year, I'm serious with it. I hope I'll be able to enter university soon to learn japanese and then, go to Japan for my third year of study.

I'm 25, but I still want to go to school Lovey Eyes haha. (if it's to learn japanese sure... or other languages as well Wink).

Hahaha, I remember trying to learn hiragana, katakana, and eventually kanji during high school with mini-flashcards. They didn't offer Japanese at my school so I always ended up doing it in math class cuz I was always bored. Beaten hehe

Haha, I should have learn japanese before and do like you hehe . Actually, I was often drawing in class, or sleeping, hide behind my hair Smile .

When I was younger, I thought that japanese was impossible to learn and that's why I never started a school to do that... (actually, I didn't know there were some!). There aren't a lot of university where we can learn japanese here, but there is one at 100 kilometers from where I live, I just hope they won't say "you're too OLD to come here" Shake Head

huh?

That's strange cause I think a lot of people have already downloaded it Sweat

I don't why you get this error? Which client do you use?

Anyway, if you continue to have errors, you can take the file from my website. (well, it's better for me to use bittorrent cause it saves bandwith ^-^).

By the way, I'm using ABCTorrent.

Haha, if they say I'm too old, or maybe if they don't want I learn in their university, it won't stop me from learning. But, you know, it would be easier if I am able to learn with a teacher Smile

I'm not saying I'm old, sure Rolling eyes . As I often say, a person can be old at 20 but young at 60, it depends on how we think. Mr Green

How much? you mean how much it costs?
Actually, I don't really know. There will have "subscription fees", which are something like 1500€ (or 1500$). But I'll have to pay for an apartment there, and that costs a lot!

But, I'm not sure that was what you wanted to know (sorry!) Sweat

hey alyussium great service ur providing. I am currently scheduled to take my first Japanese class at UCR this fall! Im so excited! I barrowed my friend's Japanese 101 books from him and started doing the hiragana and katakana worksheets over the Summer to get ahead. Maybe they might be useful to you and the other people like me who would like to learn Nihongo.

I've uploaded them to my site here is the link
http://acmserver.cs.ucr.edu/~apapa/japanese/

hey thats a nice kanji java applet you got there....how about giving me the source code hehe . I was thinking of making a similar program except I was going to program it in python and wxpython. Maybe I can get some ideas from you... Big Grin

[edit] By the way the katakana set is incomplete. Still working on it

Latest version of the original vanilla bittorrent.

Thanks, very professional looking. As it happens I'm currently working with Kanji Gold in the process of which I'm tracking down stuff for high-grade and 'ungraded' kanji* that you might find of interest. For example most common words for any particular kanji adjusted to include at least some compound words for on-readings that have at least 3,000 Google hits.

If you're interested drop me a note in a week or so.

* Only those that are actually have significant usage.

Uchiha Potato, thank you as well Wink
About giving you the source code of my applet, I can say you "maybe later". Actually, I'm not a good developper and my code is like hell to read Google . But I'll try to make it cleaner later (as for now, I focuse on making my card ^o^). You know, I should use "object" with java, but as my level isn't that high, I'm still programming as if it wasn't an object oriented language Nut

Paul, thanks. Xoops helped me a lot to do this website (search the web to see what is it Wink ).
What do you want to do exactly with these kanji "you are tracking down"? I don't know but it'll a lot of work I guess Sweat . If you want, you can say me more by PM or by emailing me.

Well, I need to go outside a little this afternoon... I think I'll go to the mountain and smell the tree, and take some pics, and... Mr Green

@+ Smile

Actually I was referring to the kanji cards.

alyussium wrote:

As I said I'm using Kanji Gold. It's an advanced multiple choice quiz program for learning to read kanji. (If you haven't used it youself you should really have a look at it). Unfortunately 'out of the box' there are a number of points that are lacking - some of which can be fixed by hard work editing it's data files. That's what I've been doing.

For example it's tricky to know exactly which kanji to try to learn. There are around 6,000 kanji supported by Kanji Gold (IIRC). I've carefully selected a sub-set of just over 2,300 that are in 'common use' (for other than proper names). I've also completely re-done the selection of 'compound words' that are shown for each kanji to include (roughly) the six most common words that use that kanji. What I'm currently working on is a separate further modified set of data files suitable for practicing ON readings (at present there is no guarrentee that the six words chosen will include any ON readings of the kanji being tested).

Sweat Sorry, I misunderstood... (too much computer today!). It tooks me a long times to do my kanji cards. Also, I write the stroke order with "my own hand", I hope it's not too bad Bleah .

I've already seen kanji gold but I didn't like the "presentation" too much. Actually, I prefer when there are some colors ^_^.

[By the way, are you an "artist"? I'm sorry, I searched about your nickname on google and went to a website where a "PaulTB" was listed as an "artist"... Anyway, I haven't seen any masterpiece (yet!) Mr Green ]
