I was just curious, with the final 30 days leading up to the election ahead, and this being the most critical time in the campaigns, where ANYTHING that happens is very critical to the outcome, who would you, as the jdorama.com community, vote for in the upcoming elections.
The debates are obviously a VERY deciding and important factor in this election as it's very close and people are just looking for a reason to vote for either side. Well, I knew the first debate was going to be critical and have a huge effect, and the outcome would almost surely lean in favor of Kerry, and lo and behold, it turned out exaclty as I had thought. These debates, especially the first, which is traditionally the most watched, would be the make it or break it for Kerry as a Presidential candidate. Let's face it, things were not looking good for Kerry throughout August and even into September. His favorability and issue ratings were beginning to decline, and the swift boat ads and other's were beginning to take their toll. Heading into the first debate, Bush was leading by as much as 8 percentage points in the USA Today/CNN/Gallup poll. Now, after a very persuasive and strong performance by Kerry and a very weak performance by Bush, as expected by most, that gap has closed to dead even in that same poll with Nader taking one percent from 2, and things are once again up for grabs. Has the debate had an effect on you? And if so, towards which side? I'm guessing a lot out there were watching as approximately 64 million tuned into see the first debate on one of the numerous networks out there covering it. This is already one third more than watched the initial debate in 2000, and just serves and indication of how much more is at stake this election. It seems the number of registered voters this year is booming.
The vice presidential election is tomorrow, btw, so definitely watch that as it should be somewhat of a more interesting debate and much closer. The rookie, fiery former trial lawyer, North Carolina senator John Edwards with just one term as Senator dukes it out with the older, but less charismatic and more "knowledgeable", at least according to some people, on issues Vice President Cheney. The second of the three Presidential debates is on Friday, but this time with a townhall meeting format, with the people asking the questions. That should prove to be interesting, and some are speculating that Bush will do better in this drastically different environment, and things may work to his favor.

Locked the other thread. Next time, just modify the thread so that there won't be a need to make a revised one. Or if you can't do it, just let one of us know if something needs to be fixed.

Yeah, sorry about that. For some reason, when I was editing the post the first time, the poll screwed up, and it kinda just dissappeared. So then I tried making it again in the edit, but when I looked at the post after the edit, the poll had double the options! And I'm guesssing the poll only allows three entries, because I had input "undecided" as the fourth option but it appears not to have shown up on the final poll. But the poll in the other thread has 6 options, leading me to believe my theory falls flat. I think there maybe something wrong with the polling option on these forums. Just a thought. Crazy

Ah, I see. Figured as much. Now why didn't I think of that before.
Anyway, so why are you voting for Bush? I mean, is it because you're a staunch Republican and always vote for Republicans no matter what? Or is just because you really think Bush is doing a good job and will continue to do so if elected for another 4 years?

I am a republican. I vote for Bush because I believe he is the right man for the job. Better than Kerry (IMO). If a democrat were to present himself, and if I were to agree that he'd be a better candidate for this country than the running Republican, of course I'd vote for that democrat.

Bush has done A LOT for this country.

The 9-11 occurance would put much burden on ANY president's term. Unfortunately, Bush had such a burden. Which makes it so easy for him to be criticized rather than any other president. Bush liberated Iraq. He preserved human rights by doing so. I think anyone would've wanted such liberation from such a leader as Saddam. Don't you?!
He also created a lot of jobs. 9-11 aftermaths just made it more difficult to see the actual results of his efforts.

I agree, The United States post 9-11 was a huge mess and we needed to take action and a firm leader to stand behind. Just because Bush is painted as a "firm leader" who stands strong on his positions, doesn't mean the Iraq war was neccessary. Yes, the world maybe a better place without him and yes, he was an evil person, etc, etc. That doesn't make it necessary for the safety of this country and worth 1000+ of our average CITIZENS dying. And you don't see any of the politicians or rich peoples' kids dying, it's all the middle class and less wealthy who are being sent off to fight this President's war, and for what reason?
It comes down to this really: NO chemical or biological weaponry or nuclear weaponry was or has been found, as was hyped up by the administration, with their campaign of fear. It's been said many times, but I guess I have to reiterate it yet again. This President does nothing but spread fear in order to control this country, and it's working too, but nobody seems to notice; and that's the sad part.
All I'm asking for is some change, and I think Kerry can provide at least that and won't send us off into yet another war against the next dictatorship that he feels like taking over, but has no apparent threat agains us. Since he's taken over one, he may as well start on the rest of 'em, and there are a LOT. At least if he's to go off to war he could use the US's strong relationship with other countries and ask for their help, but of course, the United States no longer has that option. We now find ourselves in a political climate that's firmly anti-US, all across the globe, and there's nothing we as the normal people can do about it, but stand by and be hated of course; when it's not even us that's making us so unpopular, it's our leader.

If you can - watch the documentary "Upriver - the long war of John Kerry" in a theater near you. After I saw that, I thought Bush can only hide in a hole on his Ranch and never come out again... Applaud

Liberating Iraq should not be in the job description of an American President... Especially if he empties our tax dollars and gets TENS of thousands of people (American and Iraquis) killed in the process on the basis of nothing but lies. Bonk

And what has Bush done for THIS country besides damage? Angry
