I don't know if a particular "group" is doing it. I know that qoogirl on d-addicts (yume??) is subbing it in her spare time. In fact episode one has soft-subs there.

They are subtitles that are not embedded in the video. They are overlayed on top at playback time.

My Review: 6/10 (the ending was just bleh)

I just finished watching Grumpy Gene. Say what?!
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

This drama was a huge disappointment for me. To be fair, the first six episodes were great. The first two episodes really showed some promise. I liked the way everything was directed, I loved the little claymation intros, and I was really into the whole research/science/education element of the plot. When the love story revolving Jinko blossomed, I felt it was nicely integrated with the storyline. However, by episode 7 (or perhaps a bit before), things started to go downhill. The whole atmosphere, or gfeelh, of the drama changed completely. The story lost focus and if it hadnft been for Takeuchi Yukofs consistent acting, the last episodes would have seemed a completely separate drama. And a bad one, at that.

Takeuchi Yuko was great, as usual, and even though she couldnft save this drama from sinking, Ifm glad I could watch her on screen again. Uchino Masaaki was surprisingly charismatic and I enjoyed him quite a bit, and only slightly less than Kobayashi Satomi, who I thought was great. All the other actors (and wefre talking big names here) were severely underused and abused.

The ending of the drama, from what Ifve pieced together, was lame and unsuccessful. The drama as a whole has left a bitter taste in my mouth. What started off as a great, well directed series has ended up being a dust collector.

The words I told ya so seem to be fitting....but then again I felt like you did so it's not like I don't know and appreciate the feeling.

As I said, it just fell apart after the mid point. I thought it could have been much funnier....

I guess neither of us are surprised by the downward trend....man, it even had Yamada Yu in it....but she really had just a minor role. She had a bigger supporting role in Orange Days, really.
