summary from:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TELEVIEWS / 'Anego,' 'Ruri' best bets for now
Wm. Penn / Special to The Daily Yomiuri

Anego (Wednesdays, 10 p.m., NTV network), is in the running with a solid
script by Miho Nakasono, based on the novel by Mariko Hayashi.

Anego has a definite ring of realism to it, even though 32-year-old heroine
Naoko Noda (Ryoko Shinohara) will share some romantic scenes with her young coworker Kurosawa, 22. Jin Akanishi, of the Johnny's Jimusho pop music group Kat-tun, plays Kurosawa, who finds Noda fascinating despite the age gap. It is he who gives her the older-sister nickname "Anego."

Shinohara is perfect for the role of the lovable Noda, a single working
woman, who has never had an affair with a married man. She maintains her integrity in the stifling world of corporate shenanigans and office love
while providing support for other women not faring as well.
Two other thirtysomething drama heroines this quarter--Izumi Inamori of
Magarikado no Kanojo (Tuesdays, 10 p.m., Fuji network) and Naoko Iijima of Kegareta Shita (Thursdays, 10 p.m., TBS network)--are far less lovable and definitely less watchable.

Noda, hired during the bubble economy 11 years ago, is one of the few women on staff still holding on to a full-time job. It has become company policy for new women recruits to be short-term disposable contract workers. Anego is worth tuning in at least once. Almost three stars.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i watched 2 ep already, it's cute when they have the mind-talking thing during conversation. anyway i'm tuning in every week now along with Ruri no Shima and aikurushii...

I really like "anego." Though, I beg to differ with the article that compared it to "Kegareta Shita" (Impure Tongue). While they both feature 30-something women who are not married, the premise of "anego" is so entirely different from that of "Kegareta Shita" that I am not sure I can see much of a connection in the two main characters of each drama.

"Magarikado no Kanojo" (Woman at a Turning Point), on the other hand, resembles "anego" very much. However, I think there is more charm with "anego" because the situations are much more realistic. Both women, interestingly enough, are facing the same exact problems. Having affair with a married man (Noda Naoko of "anego" hasn't commited this yet, but thinks about it), being one of the few women in power at a male-dominated office/company, being ignored by men due to younger employees; they're even alike in that they both are considering arranged marriage meetings. The way of filming the two dramas is also very similar! Both show subtitle marks about thoughts or descriptions of the characters. Sweat

"Magarikado no Kanojo" has its severe realism in some scenes concerning the main lead's lovelife, but it seems noticeably more comedic/lighter than "anego."

Still, I like both. And both use hot, younger men (the boss in "Magarikado...." and the younger employee [Akanishi Jin] in "anego") to rank in the viewers. Shameful Cry

I'd recommend everyone to watch both, but many people will probably prefer "anego" since its story seems to follow a good, solid storyline. "Magarikado" seems to be more sporadic rants and uplifting moments in Chiharu's (main lead) life. Somewhat like a Japanese Bridget Jones's Diary (she even keeps a diary of things to change about herself suddenly, just like Bridget).

I have a question, for those that watched the second episode and understand Japanese well ( better than me ^^;; )
Does anyone know what the news report is about and why she gets so upset?

Well,

I've seen both episodes of Anego and Magarikado no Kanojo and though I enjoy both, I would think that Anego is better than than other.
It really is amazing to see quite a number of dramas about japanese women in their 30s being produced in this season, considering japan's work attitudes about women. Applaud

The storyline for Anego is really solid. I didn't really think too much about it at first, but after I saw the first episode, I was hooked. A few differences btn Anego and Magarikado no Kanojo is that I think that in Anego, Noda is more career minded in the sense that she always appears disshevelled, and perhaps not as well kept as the other office girls. I would believe that she has supposedly come to the conclusion that she's already in her 30s, so her chances for getting married are slimmer and so she starts to care less about herself even though she still harbours the tiny hope of meeting someone.
Whereas in Magarikado no Kanojo, the lead character is obviously still very much concerned about getting married, with the use of the underwear analogy in the first episode, and she getting so flustered over the fact that now at 30, she now has to wear a girdle. The only time when I truly enjoyed the show was when she had a face off with the company boss. That was really fun to watch.

*spoilers*
erm, for the second episode, I think that it's because when the reporter guy went to "interview" the company manager so that he would not reveal his affair with his secretary, he also picked up a scoop about a company scandal three yrs back during the interview, which he published in a tabloid or something. So in the end, it kinda resulted in the whole company getting hurt. That's why noda was so upset.

I really like Anego, and I think Shinohara suited the role perfectly.
Looks like every year they need to make a drama about an older woman dating/sorta dating a younger man. Last year (or was it a year before) they had Yamashita from NEWS acting in Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni... [́AˑRÂ悤Ɂc]. That one had a sad ending, I'm hoping Anego will have a better ending.

Wow, I'm (well, my wife actually) only on ep 6.

Maybe I should just DL for her instead of wasting my money renting it? Hmmm.

Wow, you can already get the episodes off of D-Addicts...well I just finished episode 4 I think, and I think I'm going on to episodes 5 and 6, unless I have passed those and can't remember...

well this is what happened in the last episode I saw

**SPOILER**

"Anego" is in bed with Kurosawa.

Lol, such a shocker... Shocked
I love this drama...and Akanishi's character is different from his role in Gokusen, but a lot....from Tough and punkish, to quiet and clueless...^_^

wahh!! I'm so hooked after 2 eps! aargh! I regretted I rent TWO tapes of Yume de Aimashou! Should've rented the 2nd tape of ANEGO, instead ~_~ Yume is sooo boring!

Jin is so cute!! Ryoko is cute too! Ha....another dorama on 30-dai no onna desu ne...a career woman and not married yet. I lost count on how many times I've seen this kinda drama. However...I never get bored of it!^^

I watched ANEGO, right after I finished Miki Imai's BRAND (2000 drama). Wah, so you can imagine! How much Anego reminds me of Brand!
For those who haven't watch, BRAND is a romantic comedy drama of a 35 yrs old career single woman and a 25 yrs old young man (Ichikawa Somegorou, Matsu Takako's oniisan). This one has a -they didnt end up together- ending. But, anyway, I didn't root the couple that much either, coz the female lead also has an ex-boyfriend who is also her bestfriend, so I think she shld get together with him, instead of Somegorou. Plus, Imai is also the young man lover's superior, his boss x)

But as for ANEGO, I'm ALL for Naoko and Kurosawa!! Even thou 10 years apart, they both look cute, and right for each other...heehee... and just office mates too, so won't have problems if they get together (if they're a superior and subordinate, of course, gossips will be evrywhere).

ah!! But I soooo love Kato Masaya too!!!! The married man, Naoko had crush on!! KAKKOOOOIIII!!!^v^ too bad, he's married, ne...x) And with the irritating Tomosaka Rie too x)

Can anyone tell me, what is Kurosawa and Naoko -looks cute- conversation in the supermarket in ep.2?? Looks so funny. I can quite catch on the talking dialogues, actually. But I cannot read the written dialogues which depicts on what they're thinking at the moment!! ahh...help! I want to know what they were thinking while talking! xD
ha...I wonder will the subtitles translates the written dialogues too^^

oh yea...what does 'anego' means? older sister?...what's -go? Why does Kurosawa nicknamed Naoko that? but, i think it's cute^^

Oh, I forgot kind of exactly what they were thinking, I know that "anego" was judging Kurosawa, because he was following, she was making remarks in her head about him...
Kurosawa was also thinking, and it was probably the same topic, about what he thinks of her...but I can't quite remember sorry...^_^''

Anego does mean Older sister, but it's a term that the Yakuza kind of uses...heh, it's adorable though...
