Games are weeks away, we now got flags in our "country" field, let's start the rivalries already, damnit. w00t!

Ahhh, Japan's baseball team's a-gonna' get the kakoii, or whatever, wiped off 'em; if not by USA, USA, USA! then by, I dunno, Cuba.

Hah. Actually, might be pretty neat to see Japan's team get far.

In any case, USA, USA, USA! Yes! !

The school has started and so will the long anticipated Olympic Games in Athens. The opening ceremony starts as off tomorrow night (local time zone) and let the games begin! The timing is worse than I thought from my point of view. The events are live broadcasted at time when I'm school on weekdays, ugh! I want to experience 24/7, hehe! I can't afford skippin classes anymore since this is my last semester and I have to take the school seriously.

I'm ok with all the events except the shootings, bowin, equestrian, basketball, baseball etc. (I find them zzz). I'll skip all the fancy sports.
I'm lookin most forward to the swimmings and of course the synchronized swimming! (has nothing to do with WaterBoys hehe ).
Phelps/Thorpe/Hoogendand at 200M freestyle!!! Will Kosuke Kitajima break his previous record at butterfly?
Will Japan overcome the Russian team at synchro? It remains to be seen! Russia has always been no.1 at synchro, Japan 2nd. Go Japan go!!!
Yes, I do sound biased, hehe! I'm suppose to support my country's athletes but I don't.

The athletics don't sound that exciting as before since all the doping scandals in the US team is overshadowin the event.

I must not forget tennis! Justine Henin-Hardenne Lovey Eyes I follow tennis because of her! She's simply amazing player, her one-handed back hand drive Applaud Just beautiful!

Gotta check out the schedule of the events and make plans beforehand. The synchro events are aired at appropriate time, at the evenings. From 23rd to 27th August. We see a solo, duet and team synchro! For those who have seen WaterBoys and loved the series, I highly suggest to have a look at the real "WaterGirls" in action w00t! They are totally different from what you've seen in WaterBoys Wink

Volleyball and tennis for me.

I am more curious if they can get everything in place in time, including security.

My interest in the Olympics has dwindled over the last decade or so... It's turned into this big giant commercial...

I'm watching only the soccer matches. I would watch the wrestling if they aired it, but unfortunately you have to have cable to see it...

I never used to follow Soccer but I went with a friend to the Womens World cup game against Brazil a few years back. Since then I started to appreicate soccer more and more. Applaud I also got caught up in the soccer fever a couple years ago when I was in Japan they were hosting the Men's World cup.

I remember watching the Barcelona games when I was in Japan and I wish they would air the judo competitions in the US...I loved watching those...Go Ryoko (Tamura) Tani!!!

Then again, I would need a TV to watch anything, so maybe I should wish for that first...^_^;;;;

With the acceptance of pros in the Olympics...

The absence of the U.S.S.R....

And all the contraversy about drug use...

I've pretty much lost interst in the Olympics.

And on a purely provincial note... If Jim McKay ain't callin' it, can it really be called the Olympics?

The 'lympics are OK. Though, I tend to agree with Geezer's notion regarding non-U.S.S.R. existence with the Olympics from now on. Ah, those were the days of monolithic, near-superhuman athletes. But, New Russia still pretty young, da? We will see what new capitalist athletes can do in future.

Some events go by too quickly. In the States, we got on the clock coverage via the NBC channels (NBC, MSNBC, Bravo, CNBC, etc., no?). 'lympics are fun to watch, 'specially when USA be kicking bootay!

USA! USA! USA!

I'm with you, Geez. I guess we're dating ourselves with the Jim McKay reference... Sad
