In short, total size of avatar+signature images must not exceed 200kB, regardless of animation and display size.

Genma, just because I'm a Computer Science geek at heart and also an engineer by profession, how about making the combined limit 256K (2^8) instead of 200K?

That way it's in a traditional binary increment: Mr Green
256K = 1 0000 0000
200K = 0 1100 1000

Or, for hexadecimal: Victory! Peace!
255K = FF

Great, so you mean there's no need to order the "Remove Stupidity in 5 Easy Steps" course? hehe

And PCM, even I couldn't get more geeky than that your logical response. Next you'll be saying that we should only speak in binary. Big Grin Wink

To be totally correct, it should be 1b + 1b = 10b. Beaten

1111 1111 -> 0 to 255. (256 positions)
please do not carry on wrong information.

even if this would be a good thing, binary size limits for avatars
are not usual (do not have seen any).

edit: photobucket (http://photobucket.com) has limited the filesizes to 32, 64, 128, 256 or 512kbytes. the user has the choice.

since most of the mods are MIA most of the time, im wondering if anyone is monitoring this... i've seen quite a few ani-gifs in signatures that are 500k+ in size, and a few have more than one.

just thought i'd point that out.

I've already sent PMs to a few users.

Do let me know their names if you find users with signatures/avatars that do not adhere to the guidelines. Thanks. Smile
