This is my guess as well. Until the rule is created and then enforced, some will never know what was said here.

Yup. And they'll probably grouse about it once the guidelines are in place.

All I can say is "Tough."

Any other thoughts on this issue?

Is it time to set the guidelines in stone? Smile

im sorry if this has been answered before but sometimes im too lazy to scroll through pages of posts. gomen gomen.

i just wanted to ask if there was a way for me to view the forums without viewing the sigs (some are just really too big and its a hassle to see them over and over again. makes it hard to be active on some threads. plus it slows me down)

some forums have an option for users to not see the signatures of other users...

maybe this could work here.. or how could i make it work if it is already available?

Wow, haven't looked here in a while, didn't realize how big this thread had gotten.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one to feel this way about trying to reign in the signatures and avatars.

Really, Arnel98 should start a tutorial thread on how to build efficient avatars and signatures, his are the best! Applaud

Good idea, though I think it'll mostly fall on deaf ears... Sweat

On a related note, I love that signature pic of yours, Beemer, the one of Ryoko-chan on the scooter yelling yoo-hoo.

Thanks, PCM. Looks like I'll have to scale that puppy down a bit to conform with the (possible) new guidelines... Wink

So, no official announcement on the somewhat agreed size yet?

Rules have been set. Refer to your profile page for details beside the signature and avatar fields.

We will monitor the situation for 2 weeks before actually taking any action. Those whose signatures or avatars exceed the limit, please change or optimise them within this time frame.

In short, total size of avatar+signature images must not exceed 200kB, regardless of animation and display size.

Mods, could you update this in the guidelines of the respective forums where they apply? Thanks.

Regarding the option to turn off signatures/avatars/images, it won't be implemented for now coz it involves code modification in several locations. In other words, its not straightforward and I'll KIV it for now. Sorry if you've been anticipating it. Beaten

Thanks for setting the rules Genma Bow Bow Bow

Though I still think setting the Sigs down to 200KB is bit much....I'll be able to deal with it, rules are rules Mr Green

For a moment I thought 200KB was too much (large) for you.. Doh!

Aya looks as nice in your sig without animation. Smile

about ppl still having large avys and sigs, maybe there ARE some who are ignoring this but then IMO i dont think its THAT surprising to have not found this thread yet. i didnt know until kt told me..and this thread has been going on for awhile already. i had no idea Sweat but i guess its all settled now and will take action ^^

Hmm, I'm surprised that there's no image size restrictions... Maybe later? Head Scratch

Anyhoo, I'll post sticky threads with the above guidelines in each of the two threads I'm modding, just to get the message across.....

yeah, probably later, especially for the sig image limits.
I have a 600 X 178 for my sig, and personally, i would like to keep it, if i can.
Ok, just read your "pm" response, thanks for replying back so soon. I will try to resize them and get them down in kb. I really like both the pix of nana.
Have fun playing hoops, i am going head out myself in awhile, it is Saturday w00t!

Just to clarify, 200kB is for avatar+signature combined.

I did not impose restrictions on display size coz the system would force it to display at max of 500 pixels wide. So for qilver, the original picture is 600x178, but on JDorama.com, it will dynamically display at 500px wide.

for those affected by the size restriction, I posted a tip on the Making animated gif thread on how to reduce gif filesize and to check if your gif(s) is causing system slowdown...
hope it helps...

Looks like the changes are going more smoothly than expected, though a number of people had to be told about the new guidelines, since they were (apparently) unaware of the changes... Rolling eyes

Could there have been a mass mailing of PMs to let each and every user know of the changes?
