I haven't watched Beach Boys yet, so I can't vote. Currently downloading the series from d-addicts.

One thing about Japanese dramas in general... It seems that the "golden" era was the 1990's, dominated heavily by FUJI-TV. The stuff that's out between 2000-present (and the 90's stuff from other networks) is also great. It's just that when I watch the older FUJI-TV dramas, they seem to be a lot more wholesome, warm and touching than the others. It's just my own personal observation. The bummer thing is that, for some odd reason, most FUJI-TV/NGN recordings onto VHS seem to be in not-so-great shape, which is why the VHS-to-digital rips like Beach Boys have that 2nd-to-3rd generation look to them. VHS tapes do not age well, which is why it's very important that we convert as many VHS tapes to digital as possible.

erm... I watched it a long time ago. Can't really remember the story. But amidst my hazy memory, I guess I'll give it 3 stars.

But I'll always remember it as the show that made me aware of a cutie named Takenouchi Yutaka.

My very good friends look like Takenouchi Yutaka..haven't watched Beach Boys.

Seriously, I watched it because of the two hunks, not really paying attention to the story as I drool..drool away watching Sorimachi and Takenouchi running around in the beach. So, for a story I'd give three stars not more than that but for the two hunks definitely FIVE STARS

My friend kept on bugging me to watch this, but I've never gotten around to doing so. I'll just keep an eye on the poll and see what everyone has to say about it. Then, if the results are good, I may check it out Thanks all.

think guys mite get bored easily... not exactly dying to watch ryoko hirosue in a bikini top. anyway she looks so young in this one, its almost paedophilic

I give it 4 stars. Some story elements and the characters echo some of my personal experience. It's a really good drama.

I know mah, but I didn't really pay attention to that show and I watched only bits and pieces of it mah. I thought he was cute then, but didn't know his name. Only after Beach Boys then I learnt of his name mah.

Tell me about it... I taped Beach Boys off NGN on pretty good S-VHS tape. But EP tape speed is the killer. Tracking is all wacky. Plus I thought the tape was gonna shred at the beginning.

Kinda shaky but the dub looks OK, at least the first tape anyway...

She's gonna love this.

just watched it last month.it's a good drama.give 7/10.

four stars only ? i give it 5 hehehe... no seriously i really like the series it was quite fun too watch though the ending kinda sucked... but throughout the series i really enjoyed it... and it got me attracted to Hirosue as well haha i m not paedophilic though hahaaha she just seemed more attractive than when i saw her in the Luc Besson movie... : ) so five stars and it is a story where the location is the beach haha so maybe i m a little bias... muahahaa but still a touching and funny series...

Rewatched it just last week. Like the lifestyle at the beach, especially having a busy & stressful citylife. Who can just throw away their job, future and commitment for dreams.

The serial ending was not really bad, unless you missed the special. It is really funny how they met again elsewhere and found what they want in the special.

Ok...normally I'm all about guy eye candy like Sori-chan and Takenouchi. However this drama was mediocre at best (plot quality-wise), in my opinion.

If you've watched it during the 1998 days, you would have love it instantly mind you. Cause it was a different experienced then.

I'm also looking for that Five Stars option too!

I thought it was ok. A bit of a feel good, light hearted show without any serious overtones at all.. No real storyline whatsoever, which make a welcome change

i've heard a lot of hype about this show... especially since I'm a GTO and Long Vacation fan...

so far, i've seen the first 5 eps.. and altho the storyline so far isnt all that great, Takenouchi and Sorimachi's struggles to do what they want to do in life and following their own dreams, struck a chord... I wish I could just leave everything and go work at the beach with Hirosue and Izumi

Yea, the gurls love this show cuz of the 2 lead actors.. but, cmon fellas, Izumi Inamori looks way hot! Hirosue is still a bit young tho... but we all know she'll end up a cutie too

I'll give it 3 stars... these are the types of dramas which you can escape to and forget about all ur worries... especially if its winter outside and theres really nothing much to do. Did I mention Izumi and Hirosue??

Yep, 2 or 3 stars out of 5 is about right, imo. But since this is out of 4, I'd put a 2 (I think I said that when I posted here before...maybe). I don't think this drama is quality compared to something like Long Vacation. Izumi is cute and a decent actress, so it's always a plus with her (but I'm a girl, the eye candy for me is Sori-chan and Yutaka). I'm not a fan of Ryoko so that's not a plus for me, lol. I saw that show as mostly eye candy and that's about it. I wasn't owned by the drama and not even the eye candy factor made it high on my list....sorry guys
