It was the first Kimtaku drama EVER to not break 20% for at least one episode. And the Kusanagi drama 'Dokushin Kizoku' which was pretty average only finished about 1.5% behind. Kimtaku needs to get back to what he does best, romantic leading man.

This year's taiga, "Hana Moyu" started this week. Doesn't look good. First episode ratings checked in at 16.7%. Last year's taiga "Gunshi Kanbei" had an 18.9% for it's first episode and ended up with an average of 15.8%. Even the all time worst taiga, "Taira no Kiyomori" started out with a 17.3% and ended at 12.0%. Looks like we have a long year ahead of us.

Like we needed proof that ratings are absolutely no indicator of the talent (or lack thereof) in a drama. The ratings after the first two episodes of Erika Sawajiri's latest effort, "Yokoso, Wagaya, e":(01) 13.0% – (02) 11.4% The first two episodes of Tomoko Yamaguchi's drama "Kokoro ga Pokitto ne":(01) 10.4% – (02) 07.5%

I haven't seen any of this years taiga "Onna Joshu Naotora", but if the ratings are any indication, people in Japan prefer a male hero in their taiga. After 10 weeks: (01) 16.9% - (02) 15.5% - (03) 14.3% - (04) 16.0% (05) - 14.8% (06) - 14.5% (07) 12.9% - (08) 13.4% - (09) 14.0% - (10) 12.5% Last years taiga "Sanada Maru" had a high of 20.1% (week 2), a low of 13.0% (week 42) and an overall average of 16.6%

I personally don't know why Sanadamaru got better ratings than Naotora. Kanbee I can understand since it was decent. Sanadamaru wasted so much screentime on unimportant stuff and super important stuff was rushed. Naotora has its weakness too however there is nothing that ruins the show. Even the NaotoraxNaochika drama was quickly dealt with.
