A hilarious series! Kuninaka Ryoko was lovely as Chisato. The three brothers were so different and yet so alike in the end. Sometimes it was a bit corny, but overall a great comedy and romance series. My only regret is that it seemed to end so abruptly. I feel like I would have liked to see how Riku's laundry business fairs, how Tatsuya and Chisato's relationship develops further, and how Junpei and Miyuki finally tie the knot! I know that there's little hope of any future continuation, though. |

A family drama. The series begins with a happy family: a father, a mother, and three young sons. Due to a tragic accident, the father passes away early in his life leaving the mother to take care of her three growing sons. Time passes quickly and you see the sons have grown up and are used to doing chores around the house. The oldest son is a salaryman [Tamayama Tetsuji], the middle son [Hayami Mokomichi] is a popular swim instructor (with his own fanbase), and the youngest son [Nakao Akiyoshi] is still going through schooling. It's mainly a drama about how these four get along and their daily obstacles in life such as meeting women, dealing with work, finding out what they want in life, etc. Of course this goes with a few fist fights and such thus the drama title, "Brother Beat", where beat is meant literally.
The only caveat I have with this drama is the mother - as sweet as she is and even though she is portrayed as raising all three sons by herself, her character is a little over the top. On the other hand, the other three young actors act very well. I would recommend this drama mainly if you like any of the actors mentioned above. |

I'm watching this because of how cute Tamayama and Hayami are. I love Tamayama's style in this drama, so hot. The story is not bad, but there isn't any peaks. Didn't like the female character though, she's soooo wimpy. Also, the mother pissed me off a little too; she's so annoyingly kiddish. |

A light-hearted, entertaining family-themed dorama which is rather similar to Summer Snow (not surprising since it is the same scriptwriter) but without the sad ending. Tamayama Tetsuji outshined Hayami Mokomichi here & I must say this is probably the former's most commendable performance & memorable work. |

This is a really great family dorama! It was funny, serious, sweet, and taught morals without sounding pretentious. I really had no idea what to expect with this drama.
When I started watching the first episode I immediately liked Tetsuji's character and when we were introduced to his first love interest I thought oh no I don't like her. But thankfully by the end of the episode it turned out that the love interest was someone else and that was Ryoko's character who was absolutely adorable. (I really liked her)
This is a really sweet series it has some amazingly cute romantic scenes that made me happy.
It's mainly a family drama, about how this family turned out without a father.
All the characters went through great character development through the whole series. I think what made Tetsuji my favourite character was his character change, he was so work focused to begin with, but by the end he seemed to have realised that there were more important things. (It also helped that he was pretty ^_^)
Overall a really good series! I'm glad I saw it through to the end |

Really nice dorama.... Honestly i wasnt expecting much from Brother Beat... but as the episodes goes on u really start to support the three brother and their mother....
HOTMAN still is IMO the best "family" dorama... But Brother Beat gets real close to it... And the history is really creative... Most doramas focus on the father... and brother beat is really different in that aspect... Something more or less like Summer Snow...
The casting is also superb... I really felt in love with the characters of this dorama... The music is OK... Brother Beat is a really well made dorama... I recommend it!!! |

A good show to watch if your looking for something about everyday life in japan and family related. the characters are enjoyable and the three main leads (all male of course) are brilliant and fun to watch. so if for nothing else then watch it for the guys. but it has a pretty good storyline too :) |
