LOL, what you said about what is shown on the news is a good point. The only time Japan is mentioned in Australian news is when something "international" happens there, or to do with Japan. Such as the whaling comission in the last few days.
Although, we do get Japan's NHK news (in Japanese, no subtitles) so once my Japanese improves, I will know more about what's going on there
/me tried sushi the other day, just because I was curious - I liked it!
Sushi is the best food ever ! i cannot wait to try it in japan. i'm sure it is even better. i have list of japanese food i want to eat..especially RAW OCTOPUS! yummy.

Thanks, everyone! I guess I need to stop worrying about what other people think about me... (I should have learned that from the doramas I've watched.)
I tried a few kinds of sushi... I really wanted to like it... But I just didn't. Perhaps it's an aquired taste. I'll probably try it again in the future. I did like the Ebi, however. I'm not sure if that counts. Natto looks interesting. I can't get that Aya picture out of my head. I'd be interested in trying it someday.

Yup. Don't care what others think of you. If they think good things, awesome. If bad, oh well
Some people can't handle raw food, but there are sushi rolls that don't have raw fish in
Fair warning. You might spit the natto out after taking a bite...if its Natto sushi you're trying. _________________

If you got the money and can find a good sushi place, try Otoro (Fatty Tuna). You might not be able to taste the difference between that and Maguro the first time round.....but its good
Wow, you need to go to a different place, my friend. Otoro and maguro....there is no comparison.

Just remember, the Japanese word for squid is "tako" If you ask for a "tako" it ain't going to be Mexican food
the ONE exception to that is there is actually a dish in japan called "taco raisu" (TACO RICE) which is actually similar to a risotto with rice topped with ground beef and "Mexican" seasoning.
but if you're in a sushi restaurant there's no need to worry about the possible confusion

I think i'm just dumb right now and not understanding what you're saying
It's cool. Otoro is the fattest part of the tuna. It's like the difference between filet mignon and flank steak. Both come from the same animal, but the texture and taste is very different.
Okay, I don't think maguro is like flank steak, but you get the idea.
