Fujiwara Tatsuya [藤原竜也] He's handsome and a very good actor. I've seen quite a lot of movies and dramas he's in. I esp like him in Deathnote as Raito and in Shinsengumi as Okita. You're really pulled to the scene and story with his acting.
Katori Shingo [香取慎吾] The guy's so funny... the things he does. Esp. that Shingo mama song. Oh, I love him as Kondo Isami in Shinsengumi! I couldn't think of anyone more suited for the role. A great actor indeed!
Nakama Yukie [仲間由紀恵] She's so pretty and an amazing actress. She can do comedy and horror with ease. I like her very much in Erai tokoro and Trick.
Sakai Masato [堺雅人] Amazing actor and very good looking. I think he's getting more attention these days, and he deserves it!
Sawajiri Erika [沢尻エリカ] She's so pretty. I only saw her in Ichi rittoru... she was so good as Aya!
Tamaki Hiroshi [玉木宏] OMG! Tamaki is so cute! I so love him in Nodame Cantabile. That role really fits him.
Yoshioka Hidetaka [吉岡秀隆] Brilliant actor! He needs to be given more credit. And I so love his mild demeanor! I like him in Dr. Koto Shinryoujo and Always- San-chome no Yuhi.
moeru_h's dramas (115)
14 sai no Haha [14歳の母] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) Still watching. I'm in the middle of it. I find the story a little dragging so I can't really make myself do a marathon (unlike with other dramas I've watched). But I think things will get better as the story progresses.
Byakkotai [白虎隊] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Amazing drama! Love the setting! Love the modern/historical setting! Yamapi was great here! It's amazing that he can also do jidaigeki!
Dr. Koto Shinryojo [Dr.コトー診療所] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) One of the best human dramas I've seen! Its simplicity truly captured my heart. I can't wait to see the 2nd season.
Erai Tokoro ni Totsuide Shimatta! [エラいところに嫁いでしまった!] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Very funny! I esp loved Tanihara Shosuke's character. Very unlike his role in Shinsengumi. It just shows his versatility as an actor, ne?
And I like the way the series showed the clash and merging of traditional and modern japanese.
GTO [麻辣教師] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Great drama. I think I've watched this more than 3 times. The story's so good it doesn't matter how many times you've seen it. I've seen the anime and I think the live action is better. Takashi Sorimachi is so fitting for the role. I first liked him here.
Haikei, Chichiue-sama [拝啓、父上様] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) One of the best dramas I've seen. The simplicity of the events is what attracts me. I'm drawn to the mundane and the realness of seeing life as it is. Amazing drama! And Nino was so good too.
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [花ざかりの君たちへ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) The only saving grace of this drama is Nakatsu and also the fact that it's so funny! Besides that, I found the love story between Ashiya and Sano just lame.
Himitsu no Hanazono [ヒミツの花園] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Usually love stories don't catch my taste but Sakai Masato was here so I had to watch it. His character here is again very different from other roles I've seen him play: he's cold but with slight gentleness. Tsukiyama's character here is likeable too. Compensates for Shaku Yumiko's very plain looks?
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Ryou and Erika did great justice playing their roles as Aya and Haruto. Esp Erika. Her acting feels so real... I can't help but empathize with Aya.
Iryu [医龍 Team Medical Dragon] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Very nice OST. The story's good but I find Asada's character incomplete. There's just no conflict within himself. Ijuuin's character is better.
Iryu Season 2 [医龍 2] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I thought the 2nd season was the better season. As always... beautiful OST.
JIN [JIN-仁-] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) This became an instant favorite of mine because my 2 favorite genres are all here. Where else can you watch a medical and historical drama in one show? This is just amazing.
Maou [魔王] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) It was very entertaining. I've always had a thing for anti-hero character types. Rooted for Naruse til the end. Ohno did a great job as Naruse. Apparently, this drama is quite old. It's like Ohno didn't age at all!
My Boss, My Hero [マイボスマイヒロ] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) The funniest jdorama that I've seen so far! Nagase was so good! The story's so touching, well-meaning and insanely hilarious. Some parts sounded cheezy, but the others were really nicely done. I rank this the same with Dragonzakura among HS dramas.
Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Great storyline and theme. The dramatic scenes were really effective. The 3 actors were all so amazing! Esp. Yamapi. Very versatile. So different from his character in Kurosagi but he pulled it off very well.
Ryoma Den [龍馬伝] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) I've only seen the first 2 episodes but it just blew me away. The Ryouma here is a bit different but I still like him (maybe I even like this Ryouma better than the real one! @_@) I can't wait to see all the other episodes.
Satorare [サトラレ] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Amazing drama. Thought-provoking concept and how this concept was weaved through the characters and the overall story was truly heart-warming. One of the best!
sengoku Jieitai [戦国自衛隊〜関ケ原の戦い〜] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I really like the idea of this film. I was always scared that the soldiers from the future might alter history. They were doing a lot of stupid things. The attempts at killing key historical figures really amused me. Just the thought of meeting Ieyasu... this drama was really interesting.
Shinsengumi [新撰組] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Amazing Taiga drama! Among all Shinsengumi members, Yamanami really captured my heart. Sakai Masato was really for the role.
Shiroi Kyoto [白い巨塔] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Just great! It's a profound story about human desires and emotions. I have to read the novel! @_@
Tiger & Dragon [タイガー&ドラゴン] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) My 2nd drama with Nagase as Yakuza! This drama is so touching! And rakugo's such an interesting world!
Dr. Koto Shinryojo [Dr.コトー診療所] Perfect for the Optimists [Rating: 10/10] I now consider this the best drama I've seen ever! No matter how many times I see it, I always get teary-eyed and touched by the good-naturedness of the characters. Call me old-fashioned but I find nothing wrong with this kind of worldview. Though, I doubt if anyone's as noble as Dr. Koto (he's just too kind and pure!)
As for the actors, I just love Yoshioka Hidetaka! He's amazing! I discovered this drama while looking for Sakai Masato dramas (only to find out later that he only showed up in the 2nd season). But with just the first ep. of Dr. Koto, i fell in love with him (Dr. Koto) in an instant! Some actors were just as convincing like Izumiya Shigeru (Shige), Sengoku Noriko (Uchi), and of course, Kakei Toshio (Wada). Even Tomioka Ryo (Takehiro) did amazingly well!
And who can forget about the OST! It's just perfect. I love the instrumental versions of Gin no Ryuu no Sei ni Notte and Omoide Dake dewa Tsura Sugiru. One of the best drama OSTs I've heard.
This drama isn't getting that much attention b/c the actors here are not the usual "idols", except maybe for Shibasaki Kou. And the story isn't the usual "love story" either. But I'm glad it was well received in Japan.
Dragon Zakura [ドラゴン桜] Real School Drama [Rating: 10/10] Of all school dramas I've seen, this by far, is the only drama that gives you real information about school, which is studying techniques. And it sticks so much to realism, even sometimes you think it's down to pessimism, that this is the kind of advice one really needs to survive life. What people might call painful reality. But of course, this drama is also full of hope. Unlike false hopes other school dramas portray. Excellent drama. I can't wait to read its manga.
Abe Hiroshi was great as Sakuragi. And the actors as the 6 students were as great. I hope they create a sequel. But I don't think they'll do that.
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙] Really A Tear-jerker [Rating: 9/10] Great drama. Almost all episodes made me cry. And not just with some parts, other episodes made me cry the whole time! The story's really sad. And what makes it sadder is that it's based on a true story. The ending was good too for not making it too dramatic. I think that's the only episode that I didn't cry.
Shinsengumi [新撰組] Great Shinsengumi Information Getter [Rating: 10/10] The first and maybe the best taiga drama I've seen. Katori Shingo played excellently as Kondo Isami. And all other artists played their roles very well. I especially like Sakai Masato as Yamanami Keisuke.
Besides some books about, or that mentioned, the Shinsengumi, the drama is really a great source of information about them. It is sufficiently detailed and the screenplay writer made his own version of what and how the members of the Shinsengumi felt at that particular time.
All in all, funny, exciting, full of human drama and most of all, it makes history even more interesting.:P
Shiroi Kyoto [白い巨塔] A human drama [Rating: 10/10] I can't believe how amazing this drama is. At first, I found the story so slow-paced but as it continued, it got better and better. Karasawa and Eguchi's acting were just perfect! Just what I expected from theater actors!
The plot line and the theme were effective and touching. It understands how complicated human relationships are and why people are driven to act the way they do. The Zaizen character is the most interesting one. In the end, the story got me empathizing with him. And as for Satomi's character, it is a hopeful but poignant reminder of how few people can stand up for their ideals. But this drama does not condemn those people who can't b/c it gives good reasons too on why it isn't easy to maintain such ideals. Our drive for self-preservation, which is a very human characteristic, keeps us from our ideals.
Tenno no Ryoriban [天皇の料理番] One of the best [Rating: 10/10] This drama haunted me (in a very good way) for weeks after finishing it. I can say this is one of the best dramas I've seen ever. I love period dramas. And I love dramas about food. Sato Takeru is one handsome guy with very good acting skills.
